Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 2-1-2019: Sid.

2nd February, 2019.

It’s true: I’ve looked out of my window …

And, despite the media — and actual — blizzard affecting bits of the south east?

My street seems to be relatively untouched.

The rest of Brentwood … ?

Well, I’d have to see, when/if I head up town.

Yesterday, though … ?

Yesterday saw the leftovers of overnight snow.

Which managed to stop me going out until my hygienists appointment in the afternoon.

The weather wasn’t encouraging.

But at least the appointment went well.

The sad bit of news I heard, when I got home … ?

Was that comedian Jeremy Hardy had died.

I can only send my commiserations to his family.

And think I’m with everyone else: this is one hell of a loss to anyone who’d heard him work.

The saddest deaths of all … ?

Are the folk that make us laugh.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 17-7-2017

Right …

There’s news, and news, today …

I’m a Dr Who fan feeling mildly delighted at the moment!

Yep.

I’ve seen the announcement about who’s to play the thirteenth Doctor.

And absolutely delighted to say it’s a woman.

Former Broadchurch regular, and Attack the Block star, Jodie Whittaker.

Frankly?

I’m rather pleased: I wish her well, and want to see how she does.

Unlike some fans: some of the fan reactions I’ve seen — along the lines of “I’m never watching the show again” — is …

There’s possibly a lot of ways I could describe those reactions: but ‘antiquated,’ is possibly the best way.

This is, after all, a science fiction show whose central — and non-human — character travels through time and space in a phone box.

And, in cases of extreme medical need?   Can physically change form in order to deal with that need.

The fact the character’s stay the same gender?   Even the same ethnicity?

Seems odd.
