Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 2-1-2019: Sid.

2nd February, 2019.

It’s true: I’ve looked out of my window …

And, despite the media — and actual — blizzard affecting bits of the south east?

My street seems to be relatively untouched.

The rest of Brentwood … ?

Well, I’d have to see, when/if I head up town.

~≈§≈~

Yesterday, though … ?

Yesterday saw the leftovers of overnight snow.

Which managed to stop me going out until my hygienists appointment in the afternoon.

The weather wasn’t encouraging.

But at least the appointment went well.

The sad bit of news I heard, when I got home … ?

Was that comedian Jeremy Hardy had died.

I can only send my commiserations to his family.

And think I’m with everyone else: this is one hell of a loss to anyone who’d heard him work.

The saddest deaths of all … ?

Are the folk that make us laugh.

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Badwolf*, Olga†, and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with all three scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) 2nd February, 1979, saw the death — by overdose — of Pistol member, Sid Vicious.   By overdose of what?
Q2) He died in which city?
Q3) Vicious was facing charges of murdering his (late) girlfriend.   Who was she?
Q4) Who played Sid, in the Alex Cox directed film about the pair?
Q5) Finally … ?  Sid was the second bassist for the Pistols.   Who was the first?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1) 1st February, 1865, saw President Lincoln sign the 13th Amendment to the US Constitution into law.   The Amendment abolished what?
A1) Slavery.
Q2) The Shard was opened to the public: on 1st February, 2013.   It’s the tallest building, where: Organisation of African Unity, the European Union or the Commonwealth of Nations?
A2) The European Union.
Q3) More to the point, the Shard features in which episode of Dr Who?
Q4) Ayatollah Khomeini returned to his home nation, Iran, on 1st February, 1979.   As an Ayatollah, he’d’ve been a cleric of which version of Islam: Sufi, Shia or Sunni?
A4) Shia: the Twelver denomination.
Q5) Finally … 1st February, 1872, saw the birth of singer, Clara Butt.   Was she a soprano, mezzo-soprano or contralto?
A5) A contralto.
Here’s a thought …
“I’ll probably die by the time I reach 25. But I’ll have lived the way I wanted to.”
Sid Vicious, 10 May 1957 – 2 February 1979.
And a song …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Have a good day.

*        Morning, Badwolf^!

†        Sounds like a sensible decision, Olga^!   I always check the email address, if that’s any help?   I’ve got my email client set up to show it to me: if the address looks false … … … (Oh, don’t worry, I seriously intend to!)

‡        Oh, I think it’s worth a lot, Debbi^.   Someone with a condition?   Usually knows a lot more than they think!

^        I know Badwolf will be able to pick this up: Debbi, Olga, I don’t know if you will.   But I’m listening to a Radio 4 documentary about 2001: A Space Odyssey.   The documentary’s great: the film is fantastic … !

I'm pleased to hear the hygienist appointment went well. The problem with the WC cistern at the flat I'm renting is also sorted, although I don't know exactly what was wrong yet. I guess nothing too serious because if it needed major repairs it would have taken longer, and they would have contacted me. I mentioned I visited an exhibition about Kubrick here in Barcelona, didn't I? The bit about 2001 was quite fabulous, full of models, drawings and props from the movie. I don't know if it is travelling around, but I recommend it.
