I think I’m tempted to boycott the rebooted version of Dune.

Let me try to summarise, if you’ve not hit the play button, then.

Jason Momoa — Games of Thrones, Aquaman, what have you — has been cast as Duncan Idaho.

He’ll be good …



Except … ?

As far as I’ve ever been able to tell, Duncan Idaho is supposed to be black: at least, of Afro-Caribbean descent.

So much for Hollywood’s diversity thing …

It didn’t turn up: so I asked for a refund.

That’s in motion … only for the DVD to turn up this morning …

At ANY rate, I wasn’t exactly expecting to wurble on about DVDs.

No: the most I was expecting to do was — possibly — bang on about Daleks.

Or possibly Zygons.

And THEN cut to the important bit.

The important bit … ?

Yes: I’ve been and seen the most recent episode of Star Trek: Discovery.

Episode 5, so you know: of Series 2.

I think I’m having issues …

Episode 5 — Saints of Imperfection — sees Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green) running to help Ensign Tilly (Mary Wiseman): who’s been kidnapped and taken to the alternate dimension that power’s Discovery’s mycorrhizal drive … 

Tilly … is helping the inhabitants fight … a monster …

Whilst on other fronts?

On other fronts Captain Pike (Anson Mount) has to deal with various members of Star Fleet’s intelligence department, Section 31.

Including Philippa Georgiou (Michelle Yeoh) and Ash Tyler (Shazad Latif).

Georgiou … ?

Is only slightly less abrasive than usual …

Now … Issues … ?

Actually … there’s none that’s serious at the mo.

This weeks episode moves along at the same zippy pace as last week’s: slowing, slightly … 

When Ensign Tilly and Michael realise the depth of how hard it will be … to bring Dr Hugh Culper home.

He’s not as dead as he seemed.

A nicely emotional twist, that.

Additionally … ?

I have to give Anthony Rapp — as Paul Stamets — a quick round of applause.

The look on his face, when he sees the man who killed his husband come on to the bridge was quite something.

Yes: I’m enjoying this, look forward to another episode of the show … 

But am REALLY looking forward to the next episode of El Ministerio del Tiempo … !
