Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 23-8-2024 — Dungeons and Dragons

23rd August, 2024: Dungeons & Dragons.

Right then … it’s officially Friday!

Which frankly, means it’s payday.

Getting bills paid, and some shopping done?

Would be nice!

You may or may not be in the UK, or remember a vintage science-fiction show called Blake’s 7.

It seems the BBC — the show’s owners — have to decided to give it the Dr Who Collection treatment: with the first series due for release on 11th November.

I might just have to beg, borrow or steal copies of that!

It should — assuming as many of the surviving cast agree to take part — have some interesting extra features.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 27th July, 2019

27th July, 2019.

Ladies and gentlemen?

We have rain!

And, frankly?   I couldn’t be happier.

After all?   It does break the heatwave we’ve been having.

Right …

Are you using a Mac?

Running macOS Mojave?

In that case, you, as I, are facing the fact there’s an update to the operating system is now available.

I’ll be putting that through, later.

But I have to ask … am I the only person who worries about these things?

Oh, just as one LAST point?

Apparently, President Trump has announced that he’s working on a good trade deal with Boris Johnson.

Hmm …

I really don’t like the President.

I don’t.

I also think this: his basic policy, of putting America first?   Means any trade deal he’s looking to make will favour the USA.

Not the UK.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 27-7-2017: E. Gary Gygax

Ha!

I have to admit, I like Apple products.

I can’t afford enough of them, frankly, but I like them.

You know there’s a big fuss about the upcoming, and expensive, iMacPro?

Yeah, wouldn’t mind one of them.

My point?

Is that I tend to follow news about the company.

Oh, and presidential Tweets.

According to Donald Trump?

Apple are going to build three big plants in the US.

Which are going to be huge.   Bigly.   What-have-you.

Apple’s response was entirely appropriate, very in character and easily predicted by anyone whose watched the company for more than ten minutes.

They — altogether, now — declined to comment.

What gets me?   Is the look on the face of Apple boss, Time Cook, in that picture.

‘Declined to comment’ is exactly the phrase.

In other news?

In other news, it seems the Premier League has won a court order: that means it can get Internet Services Providers — the people you buy your internet connection from — to block illegal streams of its matches.

The kind of stream that — on what’s called a fully loaded Kodi box — lets you watch a football match for free.   Ones that, normally, you have to pay for.

I’m concerned that — if handled incorrectly — this will have a bad effect on the open source software movement.

I also think that it won’t be long before anyone providing ways of illegally streaming paid-for content … will soon find other ways of doing it.

Give it a while …

Nik Nak’s Weekly Teaser — 27-7-2016: Gary Gygax

Right …

I am feeling decidedly rushed: as I want to get a letter written: BEFORE I head into town to post it.

But, on the upside?

At least the postman’s been with a delivery!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 27-7-2016

Ok …

I am DEFINITELY feeling tired: bordering on the ropey.

And ALSO feeling that I should … you know …

Shut the windows!

Basically?

It’s actually looking like it’s going to rain.

Which makes a change: especially given as my home town’s been sweltering, a bit, under some rather toasty weather.

I might just head out in the rain …

And see what’s what … !

The Daily Teaser — 27-7-2015

Oh, well …

I’ve got a trophy …

Ahem … !

Have you heard the phrase, up selling?   When a shop assistant or sales person tries to sell you something extra — “Would you like fries with that?” and “Can we interest you in our extended warranties?” are the usual examples —as a way of making a bit of extra cash off a sale.

Well, I was at our six weekly staff meeting, yesterday.   AND managed to walk away with a trophy.

Oh, and a crate of diet cola.

Yep.

Yours truly is the Brentwood store’s best up seller.

OK, it’s not much, in the grand scheme of things.

But, my word, it’s nice to get recognition for something.

Now … about that warranty you wanted on your chips …
