1st March, 2026: Nebraska.

I like somethings: and dislike others.

But you’ve possibly worked that out.

I don’t like the current, 47th, US President.

And make it a point of honour to not use the man’s name.

I don’t know if I’ve managed there, but I can at least try.

I don’t like unnecessary military action: at least, action I feel is unjustified.

So … ?

USA military action in Iran, taken in conjunction with Israel, is what I regard as unjustified.

I grant the Islamic republic’s unpleasant, and has violated the rights, and taken the lives of, protestors.

Furthermore?

The action taken has seen the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

If that doesn’t start a war?

I’ll be both grateful, and very surprised.

I’m still getting some interest in the laptop I’m trying to sell.

Interest, and a lot of it from south of the river … but nothing positive, just yet!

It is Wednesday, isn’t it?

Yes, it: I’ve just checked my calendar.

It’s definitely Wednesday.

Why on Earth I was thinking it was Tuesday … ?

I couldn’t tell you!

Tuesday was yesterday.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 1st March, 2022.

1st March, 2022.

Right … I’m on a weight loss programme or two.

And … ?   I’m having mixed results: my weight’s slowing going down, seemingly … but my weight does seem to be yo-yoing.

So … ?   I’ve booked an appointment with my GP: to discuss weight loss injections that have been recently approved.

We’ll have to see what happens.

I’m job-hunting: but you knew that.

I’m job-hunting: ands on a Job Centre mandated course — called Restart — that’s supposed to help me find work.

At my last face to face meeting?   My case worker put me up for a position with Direct Line.

I had to fill the online form in, at their office.

Direct Line emailed me: to ask me to complete an assessment.

On their website.

When I clicked the link, this happened;

I got a message that my default browser, Safari, was unsupported.

And I got a list of recommended browsers: Firefox, Edge, Google Chrome … and Safari.

I got told things.

Mostly that I should install and use Chrome: as it had a video player.   Safari’s supported most video formats since its introduction in 2003.

I point blank refused to: and said that to both Direct Line and my case worker.

It’s something of a point of principle for me.

If you’re not going to make your website work in my default browser, I’m not going to use your website.   I don’t see why I should have to waste time and hard drive space, installing more software than I usually need*.

Especially if it’s just one site causing problems.

I eventually used Firefox: which I’ve had for a while, and use for several things I know Safari can’t do.   Its got uses, beyond accessing sites I can’t open in Safari.

Despite being told to use Chrome because it had a video player†?

The actual assessment was a text based one that used radio buttons to pick options.

Something that Safari handles well enough.

I failed the assessment.   I’m grateful I did so.   And will only re-take it, if Direct Line updates their site.

Enola Holmes (2020) — A Review

1st March, 2021.

Strange as it sounds?

I — occasionally? — like a film.

Even though I’m out of a job … ?

I don’t get as much time as I’d like to watch one.

I’ve managed to remedy that, tonight: and caught a movie.

And will be telling you about it, tomorrow night: when I finish this post.

But yes: I’ve managed to see Enola Holmes: and come away impressed.

Doctor Who — Series 12: Episode 10 — The Timeless Children — A Review

1st March, 2020.

It’s a Sunday … 

You know this, already.

And, if you anything like me?

On a night when there’s nothing to do, you’ll end up doing a few things.

You’ll need up trying to keep yourself yourself occupied.

What do you do, out of interest?   Watch the big match?   Read a book?   Recreational somethings?

I’m pretty sure you can let me know.

Speaking personally?

I’d rather not spend my time with beer: I spent too many years as a barman.

I — occasionally — spend time with friends and family.

It’s my birthday, on Wednesday: so I got treated to a meal, and a session of ten pin bowling, with my sister and nephew.

Ruth won, with a total of ninety-seven points.   I came in second, Jude came in last.

I don’t think Jude was happy, either!

He’s healthily competitive.

At any rate … ?

Tonight is Sunday night.

Which, over the past few months … ?

Means I’m watching just the one TV show.

Yes: I’ve seen the final episode of Doctor Who, Series 12.

There’s a possibility of a meaningful look.

1st March, 2018.

Yeah … cold seems to be the word for it.

Frankly?

Brentwood — and Chelmsford, where I work — where both covered in snow, yesterday.

And, just as frankly?   I think it’s going to be a while before we see anything approaching a thaw.

I can’t wait, to be honest.

Right now … ?

I’m looking at a walk from front door to station, then station to work, that’s going to involve wading through a couple of inches of compacted snow, and extremely slippery ice.

Not what I call pleasant, in other words …

Dune — The Extended Cut: Ummm …

You know: this may be one of those rare — for now — times where I go to bed, leaving a post unfinished.

I don’t like doing that.

Well … 

Not often, at any rate.

But am very aware that I’ve had a free evening, tonight.

And watched a film: that’s three hours long.

The extended cut of David Lynch’s Dune.

The one he took his name OFF of.

It was …
