Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 14th March 2026.

14th March, 2026.

Right …

I am definitely looking forward to pay day … !

Because … ?

I’ve got a bad — possibly bad — habit of getting anxious: if I don’t have backups.

The Mac, enough money to buy domestic appliances, at least two boxes of various medications, lancets, test strips, unopened bags of frozen vegetables, what have you!

Backups, in other words.

Or plan ß, if you want to put it that way.

At ANY rate … I like spares.

So … ?

Was grateful, when the buttons finally went on the remote control* for my TV, that I’d bought two of them, back in the day.

And still had an extra one: that I could use, straight away.

The problem, there?

Is that I now, don’t have a spare!

It’s like having an itch that’s just out of reach …

~≈📺≈~

I thought viral videos couldn’t get any sillier.

They have.

A few years ago, Baby Metal’s “Gimme Chocolate” — a song about chocolate by the world’s only Japanese heavy metal girl band — was everywhere.

Except it get’s sillier.

As YouTube, Facebook, et al, have now started throwing “Gimme Chocolate” shorts at me!

You couldn’t make it up.

Well … you could: but no-one would believe you …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 14-3-2025 — My Name Is Michael Caine

14th March, 2025: Michael Caine.

Yay!

It’s Friday … !

Which means we can do our best impression of a bunch of happy munchkins.

On a more serious note … ?

I’m very aware of the UK’s National Health Service.

I, like most of the country, rely on the service to stay healthy: and have family working in a local surgery.

So … ?

Yesterday’s announcement from the Prime Minister, that he was going to abolish NHS England — the arm’s-length body that runs the English branch off the NHS — and take the organisation back under central government control.

It’s a cost cutting measure, I think.

But?

A slightly worrying one.

This could affect the healthcare of many.

And directly affect my family.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 14-3-2024 — You Are Gold

14th March, 2024: You Are Gold!

Yes: it’s Thursday.

And?

I have to admit to wanting to go back to bed: as I’ve been up late … doing a video review of The Flash.

What makes it worth it?

Is getting a comment bare hours after posting it!

Not many … but enough to be pleased I’m getting a reaction.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 14th March 2023.

14th March, 2023.

You know, it’s easy to forget quite how busy a week can possibly be.

I’ve a weight management meeting by phone, this morning.

And my nephew, this afternoon.

There’s possibly going to be more videos, done: on top of the video review I’ve already done.

I hope someone gets the Goons reference in that!

At any rate … ?

I’ve got all that on … plus I’ve had my council tax bill … and needs to chase up the help I can get.

AND take in both bank statements, and proof I’m claiming benefits.

Given I’ve got a plumber on Friday, a doctors appointment, tomorrow, and a food bank delivery, today … ?

The next few days will be busy … !

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 14th March, 2022.

14th March, 2022.

Right: it’s a Monday.

And, frankly?

I’ve got to be in Chelmsford for a face to face meeting with my Restart adviser.

I’m … well, let’s put it this way, I have mixed feelings about these schemes.

I find them unhelpful.

Granted, it gets me out of the flat: but for very little purpose.

Beyond complaining about one application, a few weeks ago.

We’ll have to see how the day goes.

~≈fl≈~

I’ve possibly mention I’m a Mac fan, haven’t I … ?

So I was fascinated to see the new Mac Studio: that the company releases on Friday.

I even watched the relevant part of the Peek Preview event, yesterday.

About the only thing I have concerns about is the fans on the thing

From what I saw of the event, the Studio is a completely enclosed unit: that can’t — unlike the 2007 Mac mini I had — be opened up.

I found that useful on the mini: so long as you were careful, it was a very good way of cleaning out dust.

You don’t seem to be able to do the same, on the Studio: it doesn’t seem to be as accessible.

That could be a bad thing.

The Mandalorian — Series 2 Episode 6 — Chapter 14 The Tragedy — A Review

13th March, 2021.

I have to say, Saturday night’s are to be a thing.

No, really.

I’m starting to get used to the idea of watching a streamed TV show on a Saturday night.

It’s about the one upside to not working.

I’ve a regular night that I can schedule for a (cheapish) pleasure.

Blogging about the one I find interesting?

Is something of an added bonus.

At any rate?

I’ve seen another episode of The Mandalorian, series two.

And, of course, will tell you more, on Sunday night!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 14-3-2021: Quincy …

14th March, 2021.

I have to say: it’s true.

We had very little birdsong, this morning!

Which is …

Disappointing.

Still … there’s always tomorrow.

~≈🦉≈~

In the wake of the killing of Sarah Everard?

Protests had been planned.

Or, at least, vigils: many of which had to be cancelled, as the organisers could go ahead: in the light of various Covid restrictions.

The one that did go ahead, in Clapham Common?

Lead to … issues …

What’ll happen, there, as a result?

I don’t know.

But?

I can only note that the Reclaim the Night marches — in the wake of the Yorkshire Ripper killings — also saw clashes with police.

They also failed to stop killings: like the death of Sarah Everard, like the deaths of the Ripper’s victims*, or those of the Suffolk Strangler.   Which also saw protests.

I can understand the vigil taking place, I really can.

But?

I’m wondering if they’s be taking place if Sarah Everard had been a hooker?

And, given that these seem to have no effect?

Whether there’s any point to them?
I don’t know.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 14-3-2020: The Mikado

14th March, 2020.

It’s a definite, I think: I’m getting old.

Yes, I know it was my birth, last week.   You didn’t say ‘Happy Birthday, I notice!’

At any rate … !   I’m getting older.

I can tell that … because I’m taking more medication, every bloody year!

Levothyroxine, metformin, assorted jollops for depression and a dodgy left leg, stating, aspirins …

Bleugh … !

~≈¥≈~

But at least I’m free of Corona virus!

Which is a good thing: apparently, if you’re male, over fifty, or diabetes?   You’re more likely yo either catch it, or suffer badly with it!

Oy, veh …

There’s an upside, at least.

I’ve not got a ticket for this year’s (cancelled) World Wide Developers Conference, Apple’s big show and tell.

Or any of the cancelled sports events.

I don’t have to fiddle about getting a refund … !

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 14th March 2019.

14th March 2019.

Right then …

I am wondering what happened, there … !?

If you’ve not been following the news … ?

You’ll realise that Facebook had issues.

Quite what happened there?

I don’t know.

Although, given there’s talk both Twitter and Facebook have had fake accounts set up, trying to interfere with the Brexit process … ?

The fact it went off on the night off a big Commons vote on the subject was …

Interesting …

Frankly?

I’m just grateful I had something to watch on TV …

Nik Nak’s Daily Thinking — 14-3-2017

I don’t know if you follow the news … but Britain’s a political animal.

One that, right now?

One that’s barking.

If you’ll forgive the pun.

A couple of years ago, now?   Scotland voted against independence: voting to remain a part of the UK.

Last years?

Britain voted to leave the EU.   The arguments about that, ever since, have been … loud.

Noticeably?   Because, while the people of the UK, overall, voted to leave … the majority in Northern Ireland, and Scotland, voted to remain.

I don’t know about Northern Ireland.   But in Scotland, the Scottish Nationalists have a large number of MSPs: as a result of the most recent elections.

In the manifesto for that election?   SNP leader, Nicola Sturgeon, made a promise to hold a second referendum: if it was felt things had seriously changed for Scotland.

Last years’s Brexit vote?   Was that change.

A change that saw the Scottish First Minister announce, yesterday, that she would be seeking to hold a second independence referendum.

I really can’t say I blame her for doing so.

Were I a Scottish resident, for that second independence vote?   And given that I voted remain?

To hell with the consequences.

I’d be voting for independence.

To leave the UK, so I could remain in the EU.

That’s going to annoy a lot of those who voted to leave the EU.

But yesterday’s announcement was implicit in the Brexit results.

Anyone complaining?

Should maybe have read the SNP manifesto, before the election …

~≈Â≈~

After all that politics?

We should maybe move on to something lighter.

Or, at least tell you the BBC have released the latest trailer of Dr Who’s tenth season.

And?   I think we can say that’s a Mondasian Cyberman in there.

AND a Ice … something …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 13-3-2017

Right then …

It’s the official start of the working week …

He say’s … yawning, desperately.

I honestly like my job.

Really.

But, boy, those long weekends are tiring.

Well …

Not so much the weekend …

As the six o’clock starts … !

~≈Ê≈~

Oh, by the way, I had a dream, this morning.

A fragmentary on, at any rate.

I’d bought football tickets — Ha*! — and, it seems, won a prize draw, as a result.

Winning a cheque for £3, 000, 000.

Don’t I just wish … !

The Daily Teaser — 14-3-2016

That was … odd … and slightly unnerving.

I have dreams.   We ALL do.

One I had last night … ?

Had me getting invited to a group: that, as it turned out, was one that was unacceptable.

Seriously unacceptable.

And not one I’d want to join.

My dream self … ?   Turned down the offers.

For which I’m truly thankful.

But it leaves me wondering what on EARTH my subconscious is telling me … !

51 — A Review

14th March, 2013

You know, it has to be said, sometimes, I’m a film fan.

Hmm … that sounds remarkable ambiguous, doesn’t it … ?

What I mean to say, simply, is that I like watching movies.

Sci-fi and horror, for the most part: although I will make an exception, occasionally, if you’re VERY persuasive about a given film.

At ANY rate … ?

At any rate, I know what I like, and head straight for it when I can.

Occasionally, though, I manage to dig up a clunker or two.

I think the worst film I’ve managed to catch, recently, was Orcs: and even though I gave it a star and a half, it was a film was a certain sense of irony to it.

Or, at least, had its tongue stuck in its cheek.

But then … ?

~~≈≈~~

THEN there’s the film I managed to catch, last night.

Or not, to be perfectly frank.

The film in question was the 2011 film, 51: one I’d rented from iTunes, after I’d seen its trailer and felt it was worth a punt.

I think I can safely say this.

I was wrong.

It WASNT one capable of holding my attention for more than about twenty minutes: and that’s maybe 15 minutes more than it was worth.

I’ll leave 51: with 0 stars.
51
☆☆☆☆
And tell you one thing: 51 is a waste of money.

Now, It Can Begin: Genesis of the Daleks — A Review

14th March, 2009.

Somehow?

It seems wrong to be looking at a Saturday night spent working, rather than watching a film.

Shift work, eh?

Still, I can’t complain too much, as it does at least pay the rent.

Or most of it, at any rate.

It also gives me a chance, while dinner’s cooking, to write a few quick thoughts about the photo’s you’re looking at.

And not bang on about the cinema, for a bit …
