Nik Nak’s Teaser — 2nd June 2026.

2nd June, 2026.

Right … I was up a few grams, at yesterday’s weight management meeting.

And … ?

The volunteers who run it … immediately suggested some more healthy exercise.

Including chair yoga: which, apparently, gets organised through the volunteering services in the room next to the weight management class.

We’ll have to see about that.

At any rate, a nice healthy walk seems in order.

Except I’ll need a hat and coat.

It’s raining out there …

Did I mention I’ve been watching The Blacklist, recently?

The James Spader series is being aired on Channel 4’s catch-up series is both very watchable, and very silly: with one funny line in last night’s episode seeing the Spader character telling a woman he’s locked in a cupboard, that her stroganoff smells wonderful.

Well, it was funny, at the time.

Not quite Dr Lecter’s “I’m having an old friend for dinner”, but certainly in the same, dark, ball park.

~≈📋≈~

Just as a last thought … ?

I actually had a letter, yesterday.

From the NHS bowel cancer screening service: they’re going to be sending my a testing kit inside of the next two weeks.

Hopefully?

That’ll come up clear: and mean I won’t have to go through the necessary — but uncomfortable — colonoscopy.

If it does, though … ?

I’ll face it with the usual good grace.

Yes: it, and the pre-treatment laxatives, aren’t comfortable, or dignified.

But that’s something I’m prepared to go through, if it means avoiding cancer.

On a less serious note?

The notably accurate tabloid, The Sun, published a piece a few days ago.

Telling us the BBC had cancelled this year’s Dr Who Christmas special.

I trust the Sun: about as far as I can spit a rat.

And also feel a recent comment by Russell T. Davies — that an announcement was due, within a fortnight or so — would be more re-assuring.

We’ll have to see, won’t we?

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 2nd June, 2025.

2nd June, 2025.

I am officially knackered!

Yes: it’s Monday.

And, as ever, I’m up early: so I can head for my weight management group.

Hopefully, I’ll’ve lost a few ounces.

But … ?

I’m feeling slightly more tired than usual … as I’ve finished my written review of “The Reality War”: and the accompanying video …

Feel free to hit the ‘Like’ button.

I can head back to bed, once that’s done!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 2nd June 2024.

2nd June, 2024.

Right … it’s now Sunday!

Which means I am going to catch some more sleep!

Doing Doctor Who reviews can take a while!

If you watch that?

Can you leave me a comment, please?

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 2nd June 2023.

2nd June, 2023.

Right … it’s Friday: and … ?

Well I’ve had the Ozempic, already.

I’ve enough for two more weeks … so will probably need to look at what’s happening!

At any rate … ?

It’s a Friday: an overcast Friday that’s supposed to be getting sunny, later.

We’ll see.

~≈¥≈~

You know, if you’re in the UK, you’ve possibly have seen the news.

The story about Phillip Schofield leaving the This Morning show, after revealing he’d had an affair at work.

He was definitely out of sorts in the interview he did for the BBC.

He has — as he famously said! — has done something unwise: but not illegal.

I’ll be honest: I think he’s getting maybe a bit too much press coverage.

After all, he’s done nothing worse than Bill Clinton, John Major or David Mellor.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 2-6-2022 — Festa della Repubblica

2nd June, 2022.

Right … it’s Thursday.

And, frankly?   I’m baby — ha! — sitting my nephew, this evening.

I don’t think we’ll be marking the Jubilee: not if I know my nephew!

At any rate … ?

It looks like the day’s going to be glorious …

~≈Á≈~

Many moons ago?

I and some friends — hello, Sean and* Laura, if your reading this! — went to see a play called My Grandmother was a Timelord: a piece that was a hell of a lot of fun.

To the point where Sean wanted to find out more.

Unfortunately?

He’s not been able to find a thing.

If you know anything about it?

Feel free to give Sean and Laura’s Tyche’s Games Facebook page a poke.

For All Mankind — Series 2 Episode 9 — Triage — A Review

1st June, 2021.

Right …

I’m officially going to go to bed, in a few minutes time.

It’s getting late: I was up at 5:30, this morning!

And frankly?

Eno’s Ambient 4: On Land is doing a good job of being odd in the background.

Tal Coat is quite something.

At ANY rate?

I’m doing my usual thing: of starting a post about episode nine of For All Mankind’s second season.

I’ll be writing more about it, on Wednesday.

But?

Safe to say, the episode goes out with a bang …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 2nd June, 2021, Teaser.

2nd June, 2021.

Yep: I officially had a meeting, yesterday.

With my case officer at the Job Centre.

They’ve provisionally decided to buy me a PC, so I can do the course.

Not that I want a PC: I’m a rampant Mac fan, remember?

But at least it means I’d be able to do the course I’m going to.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 2nd June, 2020.

2nd June, 2020.

Right …

It’s officially Tuesday … and stuff’s happening …

At least it will be … once I get dressed.

Job hunting, included …

And possibly?   A piece on digital poverty.

I’ve had word from EE, telling me what they’re doing on that front: so I’ll have to see what I can do, there.

I do know they’ve told me about an organisation giving away tablets with pre-pay sims.

You have to go online to get them.

How do you go online to get a tablet to get online … if you’re not online …?   And can’t get online because of lockdown … ?

Oy veh … !

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 2nd June, 2019.

2nd June, 2019.

Did I ever mention I’m really not a football fan?

I’m not a football fan.

So you know!

On the other hand?

Jude, my nephew?

Thinks:
  • Harry Kane’s amazing.
  • Liverpool are the best team on the planet.
Given Liverpool’s big win, last night?

I think someone’s going to be rather smug.

~≈§≈~

Oh …

President Trump’s at it again … !

In an interview with the Sun, yesterday?   He told us Boris Johnson would make a wonderful PM and party leader.

Nice to know he’s happy to breach diplomatic protocol.

Twice.

Because, in a second interview, in today’s Sunday Times?

Tell us that the Brexit Party leader, Nigel Farage, would make a wonderful negotiator in the on-going Brexit talks.

OK …

Two counts of interfering with a sovereign nation’s affairs, in the course of a weekend … ?

Is possibly a record.

~≈§≈~

And just as a final note … ?

I’ve been doing a little moving about in my flat: and now moved the ageing Performa* — my first Mac — from one corner of the room, to the hallway.

It’s behind me as I speak: and, surprisingly?

Still works.

The 2017 21” iMac that I’m working on now?   Is a gorgeous piece of kit.

But?

It doesn’t do the start-up chime common on older machines.

I miss that chime!

High Tension/Switchblade Romance: Go Watch!

2nd June, 2017

OK …

It’s late on a Friday night: and I’m up, after having watched a film.

Yes, I know: I could easily go out out and watch one.

But, frankly, the weather’s been changeable, today: veering from light drizzle to chucking it down.

To highlight that?   I went to my local Nisa, earlier: thinking the rain wasn’t that heavy.

And came back looking like a drowned rat.

Or a very odd Ms Wet T-shirt 2017.

Yes …

I’m sure you find that a pretty mental image … !

And one that possibly avoids the point, here.

I fancied watching a film.

And, whilst I have copies of both Arrival and Passengers?

I fancied neither.

It wasn’t until a chap called Benjamin — a former customer at one of the pubs I worked in — asked for recommendations, that I got a suggestions, myself.

Courtesy of an old friend and neighbour, Faye.

Who suggested that New French Extremity film, High Tension, would go down well.

And that it was also know as Switchblade Romance, here in the UK.

I think Faye has a point.

If it’s not brilliant, then High Tension/Switchblade Romance IS very watchable.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 2-6-2016: International Sex Workers Day

Right … another day off …

And … ?

Believe it or not, I’m off to Kidspace in Romford.

And (possibly) to see Top Cat, afterwards.

You can tell I’m doing with a certain nephew, can’t you … ?

I’m just hoping the film’s not a total bomb: it’s getting mixed reviews …
