Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 2nd June, 2019.

2nd June, 2019.

Did I ever mention I’m really not a football fan?

I’m not a football fan.

So you know!

On the other hand?

Jude, my nephew?

Thinks:
  • Harry Kane’s amazing.
  • Liverpool are the best team on the planet.
Given Liverpool’s big win, last night?

I think someone’s going to be rather smug.

~≈§≈~

Oh …

President Trump’s at it again … !

In an interview with the Sun, yesterday?   He told us Boris Johnson would make a wonderful PM and party leader.

Nice to know he’s happy to breach diplomatic protocol.

Twice.

Because, in a second interview, in today’s Sunday Times?

Tell us that the Brexit Party leader, Nigel Farage, would make a wonderful negotiator in the on-going Brexit talks.

OK …

Two counts of interfering with a sovereign nation’s affairs, in the course of a weekend … ?

Is possibly a record.

~≈§≈~

And just as a final note … ?

I’ve been doing a little moving about in my flat: and now moved the ageing Performa* — my first Mac — from one corner of the room, to the hallway.

It’s behind me as I speak: and, surprisingly?

Still works.

The 2017 21” iMac that I’m working on now?   Is a gorgeous piece of kit.

But?

It doesn’t do the start-up chime common on older machines.

I miss that chime!

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga†, and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with both scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) 2nd June, 2017, saw the sad death of actor, Peter Sallis.   He appeared in all two hundred and ninety-five episodes of which sitcom … ?
Q2) 2nd June, 1740, saw the birth of the Marquis de Sade.   He spent ten years imprisoned in which stormy, French fortress?
Q3) The Queen was formally crowned: on 2nd June, 1953.   Her procession TO the coronation started in which landmark?
Q4) The Battle of Aqbat al-Bakr took place: on 2nd June, 1010.   It took place in what’s now where: China, Israel or Spain?
Q5) Finally … ?   Timothy McVeigh was convicted — on 2nd June, 1997 — of bombing a federal building: in which US city?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1) 1st June is World Milk Day.  It was first marked in which year: 1999, 2001 or 2003?
A1) 2001.
Q2) 1st June, 1831, saw James Clark Ross become the first person to reach which North Pole?
Q3) 1st June, 1946, saw the execution of fascist dictator, Ion Antonescu.   Antonescu was the fascist dictator of where?
A3) Romania.
Q4) 1st June, 1563, saw the birth of Robert Cecil, the 1st Earl of Salisbury.   He was Secretary of State, and Lord Privy Seal, to an English monarch.   Name that English monarch.
A4) Elizabeth 1st.   (He also worked for James the 6th and 1st: ruler of Great Britain, the unified English and Scottish crown.)
Q5) Finally … 1st June, 1973, saw the birth of which German-American model and actress …?
Here’s a thought …
“I’ve been lucky enough to keep going and I realise now, though it’s taken me nearly 100 years, that my voice is distinctive. I’m very lucky indeed.”
Peter Sallis, 1 February 1921 – 2 June 2017.
And some music …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Have a good day.

*        Bloody hell, the thing^ has speakers … !   Not that I’ve used it as much more than a CD player, recently — and how many CDs have we got, these days? — but that’s the one reason I kept it.   The woofers hum!

†        I know I’m keeping my finger’s crossed, Olga: they always sounds hairy, tornados!   (Oh, Trump’s at it … again …)

‡        Is everything OK, Debbi?   Sounds … nasty.   (DM me on Twitter, if you need to!)

^        The thing’s got a power button on the keyboard: at a time most desktops had it on the tower and nowhere else!   You could ALSO use the power button to turn the thing off.   Again, when many Windows machines made you use the Start menu!

Ah Coronation Day 1953 I remember it well.

First time I was in a pub.
First time I saw a television programme.
First time I drank alcohol (us kids were given small glasses of sherry to toast the Queen).

It was only a few weeks after my fifth birthday.

We were given copies of the New Testament and coronation mugs at my infant school.

Q3) Buckingham Palace
Q4) Spain
Q5) Oklahoma City
I see what you mean about the chime… Yes, there is something to it. Congratulations to your nephew. Ah, and reading your comments about el Ministerio Episode, I think I must have missed that one with my comings and goings, so I’ll have to try and check them out (or wait until they decide to show them all again, that they are bound to do…). I do have a soft spot for Lope de Vega, and I know I’m not the only one ;)
