Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 29th May 2026

29th May, 2026.

Right … it’s Friday, 29th May.

And … ?

I’m expecting a cable to turn up, today: to go with the various bits and bobs that will charge my new game controller.

The charging plug, I should add, turned up yesterday morning.

The controller … ?

Still hasn’t run out of juice: so it’s going to be a while before I need it all.

Heigh … ho!

~≈🎮≈~

Going totally off-piste?

I’m getting a few comments on some of my YouTube videos.

Which is;
  • Nice.
  • About bloody time.
I’m grateful, either Way: and wondering at how long it’s taken …

~≈🕸️≈~

As a final point … ?

My contract with my ISP is up, next week: so … ?

I’ve phoned them, yesterday: to both renegotiate, AND to confirm I’m still unemployed.

I gain access to a cheaper price, that way.

I’ve ALSO asked for the faster, full-fibre, connection.

It’s only slightly more expensive.

And hopefully will make a noticeably difference to upload speeds.

That’ll come in handy, when uploading to YouTube …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 29-5-2025 — International Day of United Nations Peace Keepers

29th May, 2025: International Day of United Nations Peace Keepers.

Right …

I’ve only a few quid left.

But … ?

I’ve managed to get a couple of posters printed: to try and advertise my sister’s Chromebook.

Hopefully: those will help.

At least, once I’ve got the black-and-white ones placed: there’s usually a couple of shops that help.

Here’s hoping … !

Here’s the ad.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 29th May, 2024.

29th May, 2024.

Right … it’s now Wednesday!

Which means … ?

Well: it means I was looking after my nephew, last night.

He’s fine.

But?

Bobby the Cat spent a good ten minutes licking my ears.

That cat’s a funny fella!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 29th May 2023.

29th May, 2023.

Yes: it’s Bank Holiday Monday.

Again.

Which means … not a lot, actually …

I’ll pick up a loaf, locally: rather than in the High Street, for example.

And … ?

I’ll probably watch watch a TV show.

We’ll see.

~≈ 🍞 ≈~

Talking of which … ?

A few days ago. the Daily Telegraph announce the government was working with various supermarkets: to try and introduce voluntary price caps for various foods.

Today … ?

A pice form the BBC tells us that many retailers arguing that such a move won’t make much in the way of a difference.

To paraphrase Mandy Rice-Davies?

“They would say that, wouldn’t they … ?”

At any rate … ?

I tend to buy some my local supermarket’s own brand stuff: the cheaper ones.

But — voluntary, or otherwise — would welcome a cap.

In the words of one company’s strap-line?

Every little helps!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 29th May, 2022.

29th May, 2022.

Right … it’s a Sunday!

And one I’m expecting to be quiet.

But … ?

I can at least wave a couple of videos at you, and ask you something.

Can you hit Like on this video by my nephew?

It’d be nice to get him to thirty likes!

While I’m at it?

I’ve reviewed the tenth episode of Star Trek Discovery’s fourth series: feel free to share!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 29-5-2021: Wisconsin

29th May, 2021.

Right …

I now have cleaner — ish — teeth: after a hygienist appointment, yesterday.

And meant to go shopping, once I’d finished.

I didn’t.

I felt mildly woozy: something that I blame on the second AstraZeneca jab, the day, before.

That’s the only effect I have had!

At ANY rate … ?

I’m going to try and do some shopping, today.

Frankly?

I’d like to put Marmite on something … !

~≈🍞≈~

I take it you watch the news, occasionally?

I do: technology interests me, as does anything going off in my town.

Every-so-often, Brentwood get’s the occasional drug raid: they’ve happened on my street, I know that.

Occasionally?   Someone opens up a a cannabis farm: I think we’ve had one of those in my street, as well.

What we haven’t had … ?   Is an illegal Bitcoin mining setup!

It seems that, over the past few months, West Midlands police were investigating a cannabis farm in Sandwell.

But turns out to have been an illegal Bitcoin* mine.

Well … the mine, itself, wasn’t illegal.

It’s connection to the electricity grid was: the thing was using electricity without paying for it.

It’s a genius idea, in a way.

The mine’s organisers are going to be serving less time for stealing electricity, than they would for growing cannabis.

Frankly?   I think we’re going to see more of these.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 29th May 2020.

29th May, 2020.

Yes: that video is my best effort at an impersonation of the late Vincent Price.

It is — I think — from The Fall of the House of Usher.

Or, more recently?   An episode of QI.

Remember the episode that sees Alan Davies breaking into Peter Cushing Lives in Whitstable?

Yeah … that one … !

The reason I mention it?

Is because it gets used in the bloody song … which has been ear worming it’s way through my head for the past few days.

The damn thing!

~≈☦≈~

At ANY rate … ?

Remember me telling you I’d been in touch with Essex County Council?   To see what general policies they had, for helping low income families?

I’ve had to put that in as a Freedom of Information request, in case you’d missed yesterday’s post: something that could take up to twenty(20) days.

Here’s hoping that request is answered quickly.

At any rate … ?

I’m jobhunting, at the mo.

And very aware that BT offers a Basic Broadband service to those of who are struggling.   The deal works out at £10.07 for a router, landline and internet connection … with a data download limit of 15 gigabytes.

It’d be a serious step backwards for me: but, for some of my friends?

A hell of a lot better than their current non-existent deals.

So that’s something I’d suggest to people … but also got me thinking …

What do other companies do?

From the little I know?   Most of us change our bank accounts very infrequently.   Equally, we change internet services providers, about as frequently.

If providers besides BT offered that sort of deal to the unemployed?

They, and we, could benefit.

So, with that in mind?   I’ve managed to get in touch with the Post Office, Sky and Virgin Media: to get a statement from them.

We’re going to have to see what happens.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 29th May, 2019.

29th May, 2019.

It’s got to be said … I’m going to be in all morning.

Because I’m waiting in … for a plumber!

Over the past few days?   I’ve had the odd bit of back surging from my kitchen sink: water — quite definitely dirty water — coming up the plug hole.

The plumber’s due between eight and one.

Yep, I’m in all morning.

And yes: caring fever’s going to be the phrase …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 29th May, 2018

29th May, 2018.

Yes, it’s officially official: it’s a day off …

Possibly one I can can watch a movie on: I’ve got a few things in the collection …

At ANY rate … ?

I’d like to head out, at some point: if for no other reason than to chase up a GP’s appointment, following up on the scan results.

Thinking it’d be nice and sunny.

And … ?   Wouldn’t you know it?   Wouldn’t you JUST know it … ?

It’s raining.

Is it just me, or is life still a four letter word … ?

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 29-5-2016

Ye GODS …

That was a late night!

I have to admit, I was working, yesterday.

12 ’til 9, so you know.

So, yesterday, as you can possibly imagine, I got home: feeling just a touch tired …

But knowing, perfectly well, I’d have the day off, today.

At ANY rate … ?

At any rate, I actually managed to stay up later than I meant to …

But?   Well, remember, a week or two ago, I bought the box set of Battlestar Galactica: most of which I’d ripped by yesterday.

Except for the last two discs: which mostly consisted of extras and deleted scenes.

Cataloguing that lot — so that I knew, when I opened Handbrake, which files were which — was a job and a half!

The actual ripping procedure?   I did over night …

Just indexing those, though?   Didn’t half make my eyes ache!
