Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 1-11-2025 — The Bombing of Saigon

1st November, 2025: the Bombing of Saigon.

Right …

I’ve been toying with both Apple’s Image Playground … and with ChatGPT’s image altering abilities.

And managed to use ChatGPT to turn this image of Bobby the Cat being bored …

Into this image of Bobby the Cat, singing …

Whether he sounds as good as the picture seems … ?

Is a whole other issue.

I’ve also used Image Playground to turn the embedded image from today’s Teaser video …

Into this:

After asking ChatGPT to make the thing look ‘menacing’.

That latter looks OK, I think.

Although I did have to change the exposure on the modified photo: the original version looked rather dark.

Quite what you make of them … ?

Well, you tell me … !

~≈📸≈~

I have to admit, I don’t use PornHub, the world’s biggest porn site.

The older I get … ?

The less interested I am.

But I do know that — given the recent introduction of the UK’s Online Safety Act — that you now have a complicated process to go through, to verify your age: before you can use the site from the UK.

It’s a measure designed to prevent the under-eighteens using the site.

From what the BBC tell’s us?

Pornhub’s complaining about the loss of business.

Apparently, they’ve lost some seventy-seven percent of UK visitors, since the law’s introduction.

The news piece tells us that many are using VPNs, virtual private networks, to access the site.

But?

Having checked?

I’m very aware you can also use the Tor Browser, the browser the routes traffic, anonymously, to do the same thing.

I hate to sound picky … but there’s possibly a lot of bright kids out there, who can afford a good VPN, can’t use the free ones … but have worked out how to install Tor.

It’s available on practically everything except iPhones and Chromebooks* …

Whether you use a VPN, or Tor?

If you’ve got either, you’re not necessarily breaking the law.

But you can get around them …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 1-11-2024 — Juventus

1st November, 2024: Juventus.

Right …

I’m due to have COVID jab, today: at a chemist in Shenfield.

I’ve not double checked whether I can still have it: after a recent bout of COVID.

But should be able to check when I get there.

I can also check with my regular chemist: to see if they offer ’flu jabs.

I’m theoretically eligible for one: but never booked it, as I had a COVID jab, due.

We’re going to have to see, aren’t we?

~≈💉≈~

OK … I’m still in process of re-organising my music library: and juggling external drives.

I’ve now, finally, got my second external drive set up as a Time Machine backup.

Which both took time: and was a learning experience.

It turns out I couldn’t use iMovie during the initial back up.

My iMovie project library is on my other external drive: so I suspect that — whilst the initial back up was being done — the system couldn’t use it.

That was frustrating … but at least I had a few alternative things I could do.

Including organising my Music.app library: which wasn’t affected by the back up process.

Wouldn’t you know it?

At any rate … ?

It wasn’t until I was re-arranging my music library I realised quite how many Tangerine Dream albums I had!

~≈💿≈~

Just as a final thought … ?

Today’s Teaser video is taking a while to upload.

As it’s in four-k (4k) resolution.

If you can view it in that resolution, can you let me know how it looks*?

Cheers!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 1st November 2023.

1st November, 2023.

Right … it’s the 1st November.

And?

The BBC’s introduced it’s new ‘Whoniverse’ branding.

Which is nice.

And … ?

Has its Tales of the TARDIS spin-off up and ready to go, on the iPlayer.

Quite what’s happening with international, or blu-ray, releases, I don’t know.

I also can’t see them on sites like Pirate Bay: and am wondering when or if they’ll show up, there.

~≈ß≈~

In slightly more personal news … ?

I’m due one last pair of spectacles, today.

I’m — assuming I’ve got the diary entry, right! — due to pick them up, today …

Hopefully?   They’ll fit!

~≈ß≈~

Finally … ?

The BBC were reporting on a site — that it did not name* — that promoted suicide, and openly discussed methods for, committing suicide.

The BBC news pages now tell us that two internet service providers — Sky, and TalkTalk — have now blocked the site: customers just need to leave the standard filters on.

I think that’s a good thing.

But I’ve noticed a couple of things.

One?

My ISP, BT?   Don’t seem to have blocked the site: I can get through to it, in my default browser.

Two?

I can also get through to it, using TorBrowser: the one browser I know of that can get around all sorts of restrictions.

I can’t help but wonder how effective such blockages are …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 1st November, 2022.

1st November, 2022.

Right …

There ARE times I mildly regret updating my OS.

Yes: I’m enjoying the wallpaper, and the usability is generally OK.

But?

I’ve noticed that the photo browser in Safari has changed: and no longer accesses the Photos folders you’ve organised.

It just lumps them all together.

And … ?

I’ve noticed that — when uploading photos to a site, in Safari, and clicking on the Photos option? — I can no longer access the folders: they’re all lumped together.

Yes, there’s search options.

But?   They’re already in folders, and organised!

Monterey and earlier could access those: Ventura doesn’t.

That’s bad, from where I’m sitting.

On top of that … ?

I’m not the only one to have noticed the mess that’s now System Settings.

Hot mess … ?

Seems to be a good way of putting it*.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 1-11-2021: The Month of November!

1st November, 2021.

Yes: it’s official.

I saw the first episode of Doctor Who’s thirteenth series last night.

Granted, one alien, Karvanista, looks a bit like a Yorkshire terrier.

But, on the whole … ?

It’s a very good opening episode.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 1st November, 2020.

1st November, 2020.

Right … it’s official.

England, as a nation, and region of The UK?

Is now in lockdown: again.

With slightly less strict rules than the original lockdown in March.

Speaking personally?

I know it’s for the public good.

I know that.

But?   Frankly, it’s very frustrating to not get about as one does under normal circumstances.

For starters?   Getting a haircut’s going to be out of the question: as hairdressers and barbers cannot open*.

Getting out and about … ?

Meeting friends … ?

It’s …

Well …

Frustrating …

~≈🙁≈~

By now?

You’ll possibly have realised that Sean Connery — the original James Bond — died yesterday: at th age of ninety.

That’s sad to hear.

There’s always going to be arguments about who the best James Bond actor was.

But … ?

He was the first to play the part: at least more than once.

That’s going to be hard to ignore.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 1-11-2019: All Saint’s Day

1st November, 2019.

Yes: it’s official.

I’ve not had a lot of sleep.

Frankly?

Watching a late night movie like Midsommar can do that to a body.

That’s an interesting movie, as a thought.

At ANY rate … ?

I’ve got to remember to phone my landlords: just to find out what’s happening with the boiler.

~≈†≈~

Oh, just as another point … ?

It looks like I have an interview on Monday: at a soon to open local restaurant.

Whether I’ll land up with the job, I don’t know.

It’s not something I’ve done before …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 1st November, 2018.

1st November, 2018

Yes: it’s taken it’s own sweet time.

But, yes: Terry Pratchett’s Watch series is coming to fruition.

Personally … ?

I’m looking forward to it.

Although I have to admit, I’m a little disappointed it’s being produced by BBC America.

To me, it sounds like the show will hit the States — a market he found difficult to crack— before it hits Sir Terry’s native UK.

But … ?

Who am I to judge?

The interesting thing?

Is finding out who’ll be cast in key roles.

Personally, I think I’m like many of us.

I’ve got my ideas about key characters*: and can only hope the actors chosen match that.

We’ll just have to see.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 1-11-2017: Othello

Have you ever heard the phrase, “It couldn’t come sooner” … ?

I’ve got a dentist’s appointment, today: to have a tooth out.

And, yes: it couldn’t’ve come sooner.

It’s not painful: not as such.

But it’s certainly troubling, and making eating uncomfortable.

I know that extraction’s rough.

But the sooner the tooth’s out, the better.

I just hope Steve Martin doesn’t turn up …

Class: Series 1 — Episode 3 - Nightvisiting

1st November, 2016.

You know, there’s very few fine things in life.

And yes: I’m very aware that your definition of ‘fine things in life,’ is going to be different to my definition.

Sometimes, though?

They might not be so different.

I’m assuming, here, we’ll agree about …

  • A good meal.
  • A fine wine: or whatever equivalent you prefer.   (Tea, coffee, beer, whatever.)
  • A bit of entertainment …
To be frank?

It’s the last that get’s my attention …

Entertainment.

You see, I’m something of a Dr Who fan: and kept up with Torchwood, whilst it lasted.

So … ?

My point, here, as that I was never one the listened to the Big Finish audio Dr Who stories.

But DID like the idea of more stories set in one of my favourite fictional universes.

Then Class started on online BBC channel, BBC 3.

And, after seeing the first two episodes, a few days ago … ?

I think I can include nominate Class to my ‘Fine Things’ list …

Especially given Episode 3 …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 1-11-2016

Right …

I’ve TIME OFF!

Although some of today … ?

Will be chewed up at the local benefit office.   As I’m still claiming the Housing Costs part of Universal Benefit, I still have to report in once a month.

Quite what I’m supposed to have done over the past few weeks — beyond working at my new job — I couldn’t tell you.

Here’s where I get to find out …
