Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 21-10-2025 — You’re Making Me Dizzy

21st October, 2025: Dizzy Gillespie.

Ye gods, but I’m looking forward to payday!

I’m ever so slowly running out of milk.

So … ?   As I don’t get paid until Thursday?

I’ve just left a message with a local food bank, one that delivers.

Hopefully, they’ll be able to help … !

~≈🍞≈~

Which reminds me … it seems that AWS, Amazon’s cloud service, seems to be back online after an outage.

An outage that affected quite a lot of banks.

Including, I believe, mine: or, at least, it affected my bank’s owners.

It seems to be back online, now.

But this sort of thing is a worry.

Hopefully, one I won’t be affected by.

I’d hate to see my money get in late!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 21-10-2024 —Portland Cement.

21st October, 2024: Portland Cement.

Yes: you’re right!

It’s Monday, and I’m up early, again!

What can I tell you … ?

Beyond the fact that it’s the for my weight management meeting: and for a trip to the dentist, this afternoon.

Ho-hum!

~≈⚖️≈~

Occasionally?

I have the news on: and caught this piece, a few days ago.

It seems the US Federal Trade Commission want’s to introduce a ‘click to cancel’ law: a law to make the process of cancelling a digital subscription a lot easier … and a lot simpler!

Having tripped up on an Amazon Prime offer, many years ago?

It sounds like a good idea: one I hope the UK introduces!

That could well be useful!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 21-10-2023 — Let There Be Light!

21st October, 2023: Let There Be Light!

Right …

I THINK I’m getting annoyed!

Dr Who fans in the UK will know that the BBC aren’t adding An Unearthly Child — the show’s first story — to its iPlayer catchup service.

As it’s in a rights dispute with the son of the story’s writer, Anthony Coburn.

Personally … ?

It’s you, me and the rest of the fans, suffering through this.

What doesn’t help … ?

Is the simple fact the son, Stef?

Comes across as a pretentious … idiot.

I’ve seen his profile, after all.

I’ve also seen this post:

The man describes Doctor Who fans as ‘sheeple’.

As people who behave like sheep: swallowing anything they’re told.

That tells me, one thing.

That Stef Coburn* is nothing other than utterly contemptuous of the fans: fans who are, ultimately, the source of the money he wants in compensation.

‘Idiot’ … ?   Is putting it mildly.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 21st October, 2022.

21st October, 2022.

Yes: it’s official.

Prime Minister Liz Truss has resigned.

After the shortest term in office of any UK PM.

I … ?

Was actually watching her speech on TV: and guessed that was what she was going to do, when the BBC news channel told us she was meeting the head of the Conservative 1922 Committee, the backbench committee that organises their leadership elections.

Then the BBC announced Ms Truss would be making a statement.

It didn’t say about what.

But, when the time came?

The reporter told us that she — and her husband — had walked out of the door of №10.

Which is when I thought “She’s resigning.”

I know of few other times that a PM addresses the nation with a spouse.

~≈Ω≈~

I suspect that the meeting between her and Graham Brady, the head of the 19922 committee was interesting.

Under the rules that saw Boris Johnson thrown out?

They had to get so many letters of no confidence.

And normally would have to wait for a year before having another.

Some time in July, 2023, if I’ve got things right.

I suspect that, at the meeting?   Sir Graham would’ve said “Liz, we’ve got the required number of letters.   You can wait until July, cause more problems, and get a lot more.   Or you can walk out of the door, today.”

She did the right thing, and walked.

Sharpish.

~≈Ω≈~

What happens next?

I don’t know.

Nominations for the truncated leadership election have to be in by Monday.

The results will be announced on Friday, 28th October, 2022.   Next Friday.

I think if Boris Johnson’s returned as leader?   He’ll lead the Tories to another election win.

I’m no Tory voter: and couldn’t vote for the Tories if you paid me*.

But?   I think with him back in place, they’d have a significant advantage.

Putting it simply?   The man has more charisma than any of the other party leaders, put together: that’s one hell of an asset.

Either way?

Whoever gets in, needs to call a general election.

A new PM needs the support of the people.   Not just the Conservative party.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 21st October, 2021.

21st October, 2021.

It’s officially official: I’m going to have a busy day, tomorrow.

It’s payday: so I’ll need to pay my bills.

And I’ve actually got a face to face interview in the afternoon, in Romford.

For a seasonal job at well known card shop.

We’ll have to see how that goes.

Watchmen — Series 1 Episode 5 — Little Fear of Lightning — A Review

20th October, 2020.

Right … it’s a Tuesday night, and frankly … ?

I’m wanting my bed.

That’s either my age, depression … or a knee that’s feeling older than the rest of me!

Either way … ?   And with various bits of me aching … ?

I wanted to get it on record: that I’d seen another episode of  Watchmen.

And will tell you more, tomorrow … !

~≈🙂≈~

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 21st October, 2020.

21st October, 2020.

Right … I have to admit to getting an early night, last night.

So … ?

For starters, that means I’ll be finishing my write-up of Watchmen’s fifth episode, this afternoon.

After I’ve had a phone interview.

Am I nervous?   Mildly, yes.

Am I expecting anything from it?   Frankly, no: the way my luck’s gone, I’m not expecting anything … !

We’ll have to see, though.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 21-10-2019: Trafalgar

21st October, 2019.

Did I mention I watch movies, occasionally?

I watch movies, occasionally!

The reason I mention it?

Is simply that I watched one last night: the latest Stephen King adaption, It: Chapter Two.

I’m not necessarily stunned, I should add: as I think the review, and video, makes clear.

But … ?

I have to admit, I had the post finished, and was in bed, but one in the morning.

Knackered is possibly not the word!

~≈§≈~

I’m assuming a lot of my readers are in the UK, US and Spain.

Although, according to some of the analytics I’ve seen, I’ve got one hundred and ninety-six readers in Russia.

They’re possibly to disrupt the US elections.   Or Brexit … or something …

At ANY rate … ?

I’m betting you, like me, have had the odd (fraudulent) phone call where the caller claims to be from Microsoft, or a Microsoft sanctioned company, and that their records show your machine’s causing issues.

They talk you into all sorts of behaviour to scam you out of money … or take remote control of your machine.

Commonly?   A lot of these are in India.

And the report I’ve just heard, this morning?

Tells me the a few of these call centres have now been closed by Indian police: working with the City of London police, and Microsoft.

Personally?

I’m glad to hear it.

That won’t stop all of them, or prevent more starting.

But at least takes some sort of action.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 21-10-2018: LeGuin

21st October, 2018.

Hmmm …

OK …

OK, I have to admit, I sent yesterday’s introductory video to a couple of friends: who both mentioned they couldn’t tell if I was saying ‘bulb,’ or ‘bong’ … !

My speech isn’t THAT bad, surely … ?

At ANY rate … ?

I’m just thankful I’ve managed to get better with the Max Headroom effect … !

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 21st October, 2017

Ye gods … !

I am feeling ever-so-slightly — ever-so-slightly — knackered.

There you go, though.

That’s what happens when you get up early, the previous day.

And then get to bed, comparatively late, that same day.

Shame, really, there’s possibly a lot I could say … except I’m too knackered to … !

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 21-10-2016: The Metre

Oh, lord … I am officially yawning … !

Mind you, I was up late, last night … !

I had my sister over: and was helping her set up her new iPhone 7.

Which mostly went well …

Apart from being held up …

By a bad signal from my router …

Wouldn’t you know it … ?
