Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 25th October, 2021.

25th September, 2021.

Right … I’m assuming you’ve seen the news?

If you haven’t, Russell T. Davies — the producer who successfully revived Doctor Who, back in 2005 — has been reappointed as show runner: in something of an unprecedented move.

I have to admit, I’m in two minds.

On the one hand … ?

The man was instrumenting in the show’s revival: and responsible for what’s seen as a golden age.

A second Davies era could well be a good idea.

On the other hand … ?

It could well be a creative step backwards.

After all, the show has moved forward: both in terms of the story lines, and in the technology.

I think I can say a few things, though.

It’s a safe bet that Christopher Eccleston won’t be back for the show’s sixtieth anniversary.

Given that Eccleston’s relationship with his immediate superiors is known to have been rocky.

I always think that we can scrub most of the bookies favourites for the role of the Fourteenth Doctor.

With the possible exception of Olly Alexander.

As I think the new actor could well come from the company that worked with Davies on It’s a Sin, or Years and Years, as Alexander did.

I was also thinking — last night — that Lydia West was a possible contender for either 14th Doctor, or as a new companion.

Although, in the cold light of day, and given her other commitments?

That seems less likely.

Frankly?   And come 2023, when Davies is scheduled to take over?

That’s when we find out …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 27-1-2019: Leningrad.

27th January, 2019.

Tight … I’m up nice and early, today.

Actually, no, scrub that.

I’m actually up at my usual time.

I just got to bed, late, last night: after watching a movie.

King of Thieves, so you know.

I actually got finished writing the review of it … at one in the morning!

Yep: you’re right: I really want to go back to bed.

Oh, I have Radio Four on, this morning: as ever.

While I’m not especially religious?

I do find the Sunday morning services rather soothing to hear.

Especially the more old fashioned Anglican ones: today’s is about the Holocaust, as it’s Holocaust Memorial Day.

Something I’ll have to write a set about, one day.

At any rate, something in the news bulletin that caught my eye?   Was a piece about how Action Fraud — the organisation run by City of London police, to let people report fraud — have seen fraud go up, last year.

Somehow?

I’m not surprised …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 25-9-2016

Oh, my LORD, but it’s a Sunday … !

But frankly?

Still one where I’ll be job-hunting.

After all … ?

After all, the fact I’m out of work just means I’ve got more to time to go out and get yomping.

So to speak.

Here’s hoping I can bag something as a result.

Oh, something I’ve meant to highlight, for a couple of days, now?

I noticed a piece on the BBC’s Technology news, that some recent models of Lenovo laptops are set up in such a way, that installing a Linux distribution — a free operating system, like Ubuntu or Mint Linux, in other words — was next to impossible.

Now, I’ll happily being a Mac fan.

But one thing that I’ve come to believe, over the years?   Is that consumers should have a choice when it comes to computer kit.

And I don’t just mean in terms of tablets vs laptops, or cheap vs expensive.

I also think having a choice of operating system is important.

I know Lenovo say things will Linux OSes would work on these laptops: once distro makers have updated their code.

But think maybe the company could have let people know!

They’ve — intentionally or otherwise — made making a free choice, rather tricky.
