Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 8th June 2024.

8th June, 2024.

Right … Saturday …

It’s a Saturday: which means I’ve missed the big political debate, last night.

In favour of episode two of the latest Star Wars series, The Acolyte.

Lightsabers, Jedi and Wookies, had more appeal.

On the election front?

Rishi Sunak’s still facing flack about not staying for the whole of the D-Day commemorations.

A commemoration that — as it turned out — President Volodymyr Zelensky of the Ukraine, attended.

President Zelensky: president of a country currently being invaded by Russia.

President Zelenshy, a man who’s nation is being invaded, and who you would forgive for not being there … attended a ceremony during his country’s worst patch in recent history.

President Zelensky of the Ukraine is looking a lot better, politically, than the British PM.

And if it wasn’t for the fact he’s busy, I’d suggest the President stand for Parliament!

Actually, on the election front?

It seems the Greens are facing issues: as they’re having to drop candidates who are making anti-semitic social media posts.

I hope they sort that out by the time the manifesto’s published.

I’d like to vote — or not vote — for them: on the basis of that, rather than anti-semitic posts*.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 1-1-2023 — New Year’s Day.

1st January, 2023: New Year’s Day.

Right … it’s now the first day of 2023.

So … ?

I can officially say this:

Happy New Year!

Frankly?

I can only hope the weather’s milder: the summer of 2022 — and the week before Christmas, 2022 — were comparatively extreme.

Forty degree heat, and -16, overnight?

Is not something I want to live through, too often!

~≈★≈~

At any rate … ?

I didn’t catch a film, last night: as I was looking after my nephew, Jude.

We ended up chatting, for the most part.

So there’s no video, today.

We’ll have to see what happens, next time.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 13th December 2022.

13th December, 2022.

Did I mention there’s a series of strikes on, in the UK?

There’s a series of strikes on, in the UK.

So you know.

A forty-eight hour rail strikes starts today, for example.

Not something I like, as — were I working — this would be something that directly affects me.

But, generally?

They’re something I’m sympathetic to: I know how badly I’m coping with things, so can only imagine how others are.

Sunday?

There was a postal strike: that affected parcel deliveries and sorting offices.

Yesterday?   There wasn’t a strike.

But but the area was struck by unusually bad weather.

We had … no post.

I’m assuming that the mix of weather and industrial action means there was none.   Or, at least, none that could be delivered.

That’s a little worrying.

As I’m due to receive the next in a series of vouchers the go towards my fuel bills.

We’ll have to see what happens …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 1-8-2021: August

1st August, 2021.

Right …

That’s the update done.

I mentioned, yesterday, that a security update had cropped up: a security one that sounded serious.

That’s officially done, and dusted.

I will admit, though … ?   I’m grateful a couple of games on the AppleTV work with the new and improved Siri remote.

I had something to do, while I waited …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 15-3-2021: The Number 15

15th March, 2021.

It’s officially the case: there was no birdsong, this morning …

At least: none that I heard!

That’s a shame: I was getting used to it!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 1-1-2021: New Year’s Day.

1st January, 2021.

It’s officially the case: it’s now 2021.

Frankly?

I can only hope it’s an improvement on 2020.

I know this: I know the Coronavirus is still causing issues.

I think it’s going to be doing that for some months to come.

I’m also aware that the UK has now formally left the EU: something I believe to be the greatest single mistake the country’s ever made, in the process.

Especially given the ongoing talk that Scotland wants it’s independence from the UK, in the wake of the UK collective bad decision.

Good luck, Scotland.

Just as an extra thought on the Brexit front?

You’ll realise the UK’s Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, is a notable Leaver: as his incredible jingoistic claims tell us.

What’s going to embarrass him?

Is the fact his father, Stanley Johnson, has decided to seek French citizenship.

Good for him!

I wish I could do the same.

The UK outside the EU is a disaster waiting to happen.

~≈†≈~

On a more positive — ish — note?

I’ve now got a new external optical drive: which is working well enough.

And … ?

I’ve managed to make some spaghetti sauce for dinner.

And successfully change the recipe: adding more stock, and adding flour as a thickening agent later than I originally did.

About the only flaw?   I forgot to add the garlic I’d bought!

That’s was silly: but at least it means I have a little more experience, for the next time I do chilli con carne
