You know … you can TELL we’re getting close to Election Day.
The date’s getting nearer to 6th May.
And I’m getting increasingly annoyed.
By the amount of leaflets coming through my door.
I’ve had one Conservative one: while I wouldn’t vote for them, the local candidate’s friendly enough to take my request — to not put them through my letter box — to heart.
The local Liberal Democrats, on the other hand?
I asked they’re representative if they could pass on the message: to not post at my address.
That, frankly, didn’t work: as I had another leaflet from them yesterday.
I’ve complained: after all, having volunteered for them, I know they have — or had — a list of addresses in the area who didn’t want literature.
Frankly? Let’s just say I got at least one rather dismissive reply, from local Councillor, Karen Chilvers.
I’m glad I’m voting Green.
That — and her presence on the planning committee that screwed up the local mobile phone mast — means I’ve made aa good decision.
Let’s move on, shall we?
Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga*, Trevor†, Mum‡, Edith^ and Debbiª putting in their answers: with Olga, Trevor and Debbi, scoring five out of five, Edith on four, and Mum on three.
Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here’s a thought …
“May Day is a public holiday usually celebrated on 1 May or the first Monday of May. It is an ancient festival of spring and a current traditional spring holiday in many European cultures.”From the Wikipedia article on May Day.
And a folk song …
Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.
Feel free to share today’s video Teaser.
Have a good day.
* I’ve got distinct memories of it, Olga. Or, at least, of Amelia, in a boat, wondering what on Earth inspired the English to eat mincemeat! I’m going to have to bookmark Singin’ in the Rain, as well. Weird old thing, though: YouTube’s just thrown this at me: complete with Gene Kelly on skates … with jugglers dressed as Marcel Marceau, and dancing waitresses! Studio 54 it isn’t … !
† I know what you mean, Trevor: I could do with one, myself. Talking of Lynda Carter …
‡ Hello, Mum! (It was Wonder Woman, Mum!)
^ I’ll have add it to my watch list, Edith: which is about as long as Debbi’s To Be Read list! Did you look at the Xanadu video I showed Olga? It’s very odd, seeing Gene Kelly on roller skates!
ª There’s a few, I think, Debbi! Did I ever mention a Discworld book called Mort? It’s about happens when Death takes an apprentice. The story doing the rounds? Is that, when Sir Terry tried selling it to Hollywood, it stiffed … because the Disney producers wanted to take Death out of the story …

Back from my second jab. Traffic very bad in central Brentwood.
Also just had a short chat with Penny to let her know that I had had my second jab on May Day. I say short chat I see from my land line phone that it was 5 minutes short of an hour.
Had to make sure that it was not April 1st when I read a short story on the front page of the Daily Telegraph. It said that Oktoberfest could be held in Dubai instead of Bavaria this year because of the Covid crisis.
Did not think you were allowed to drink beer in an Islamic country like Dubai.
What on earth (or Discworld?) were they thinking trying to take Death out of it?
1. Law Day (been getting emails about this for weeks!)
2. the Crystal Palace
3. ribbons (in New York, the kids used to do the maypole somewhere in Queens, I think)
4. Elvis Presley
