Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 1st February 2023.

1st February, 2023.

It’s official Wednesday: which means … ?

Well, my nephew, Jude, was over: and, yes, he’s made another video about Prime.

If everyone could hit ‘Like’ — or subscribe! — that would be lovely.

As would following him on Twitter.   (He’s being ultra-careful, so you know!)

Oh … it’s still Wednesday.

And … ?   YouTube keeps throwing Wednesday Addams at me.

Why?

I don’t know!

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Mum*, Olga† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with Olga scoring five out of five, and Debbi and Mum on four.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        1st February, 2023, is the start of the UN’s World Interfaith what Week: World Interfaith Harmony Week, World Interfaith Unity Week or World Interfaith Cooperation Week?

Q2)        The Shinban Bank opened on 1st February, 1897.   It’s the oldest bank, where: South Korea, Japan or Taiwan?

Q3)        Texas seceded from the Union: on 1st February, 1861.   What did it join, a week later: the Confederate States, the United States or the United Nations?

Q4)        1st February is the feast day of Irish Saint, Saint Brigid.   Technically, she’s Saint Brigid of where: Kilkenny, Kildare or Ballykisangel?

Q5)        Finally … ?   Building was completed on Thomas Edison’s Black Maria: on 1st February, 1893.   The Black Maria was a what: armoured police van, electricity sub-station or film studio?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        The Van Allen Belt was discovered by a US satellite launched on 31st January. Of which year of the 1950s?
A1)        1958.   (The Wikipedia entry gives the date as both 31st January, and 1st February: as the launch was at 22:47:56 Eastern Time on 31st Jan … equivalent to 03:47:56, 1st February, in Greenwich Mean Time.)

Q2)        The satellite was called what: Sputnik 1, Explorer 1 or Prospero?
A2)        Explorer 1.   (The Black Arrow, and the Prospero satellite it launched was Britain’s only satellite launch system: its cancellation STILL makes me angry!)

Q3)        The Belt, itself, is a what: magnetic belt, radiation belt or leather belt?
A3)        Radiation belt.

Q4)        The Belt is held in place by the Earth’s what: atmosphere, magnetic field or orbit?
A4)        Magnetic field.

Q5)        Finally … ?   The Belt protect the Earth’s what: atmosphere, magnetic field or orbit?
A5)        The atmosphere.
Here’s a thought …
“I’m just a lucky slob from Ohio who happened to be in the right place at the right time and I had a lot of smart guys helping me — that’s all.”
Clark Gable, February 1, 1901 – November 16, 1960.
And a song …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        Hello, Mum!   (It was the Explorer 1, not Sputnik 1!)

I’ve got to admit, Olga: I can never hear the word ‘magnetosphere,’ without thinking of Ian McKellen!
We had a great time: he was a little more confident about making this week’s video.   Which is good.   We spent a LOT of time trying to work out how much caffeine one of those Prime cans has.   It’s mildly hair raising!
Hmmm … Have you thought about starting an agency for tutors?   There’s possibly a need, there!

If it’s any help, Debbi?   Series one and two of Picard are available on Bluray: in both the UK and US: quite whether that’s affordable, I don’t know.
If that IS a route you and Rick decide to go?   You MAY want to buy the blu-rays, rip them, then sell the originals to your local equivalent of CeX^: you won’t make money, but will reduce the total cost of ownership.
Netflix do seem to put putting out some good stuff: remind me to tell you about Stranger Things!   (Winona Ryder sounds like Woody Allen in the first series.   “What?!   Are you CRAZY?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!”)

^        I used to work at the Brentwood branch of CeX, Debbi: they buy and sell second hand electronica, including movies and TV shows on optical disc.   I don’t know if there’s something like it, near you.

Q1) World Interfaith Harmony Week

Q2) South Korea

Q3) the Confederate States

Q4) Kildare

Q5) a film studio
Interesting idea, Paul. There is probably something already in existence for agency tutors, although, saying that, I haven't come across it. The problem would be that I don't have a lot of experience on it, but it is a thought.
I haven't seen any of these Prime drinks here yet, but they tend to be high on everything. (To tell you the truth, sugar might be more of a problem, but it depends on how much caffeine we're talking about).
I also keep seeing Wednesday everywhere... Of course, today it is Wednesday.
