Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 12th February 2023.

12th February, 2023.

I am officially knackered!

Well … at least, I’m thinking about going back to bed!

I had a late night, last night: writing — and recording — my review of The Warlords: the last episode of the classic Dr Who series, The Crusade.

Quite what everyone’s going to make of it — and the playlist it rode in on — I don’t know.

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga*, Mum† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with everyone scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        12th February, 1923, saw the birth of Franco Zeffirelli.   January 2023 saw a court case started against Paramount Studios.   A court case about which Zeffirelli film: The Taming of the Shrew, Brother Sun, Sister Moon or Romeo and Juliet?

Q2)        12th February, 1915, saw the birth of actor, Lorne Green.   He played Ben Cartwright in what: Bonanza, Battlestar Galactica or The Third Man?

Q3)        According to the UN, 12th February is Red Hand Day.   In other words, International Day against the Use of Child what: what: soldiers, labour or prostitutes?

Q4)        12th February, 1968, saw the birth of actor, Josh Brolin.   He plays James Gallman in which 1997 film: Mimic, My Brother’s War or Nightwatch?

Q5)        Finally … ?   12th February is the feast day of Saint Julian the Hospitaller.   Her’s the patron saint of who: fiddle players, guitarists or cats?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        The world’s first science fiction show was broadcast on the BBC: on 11th February, 1938.   The show was a version of RUR, by Karel Čapek.   What word did the play introduce to English: robot, rascal or revolver?
A1)        Robot.

Q2)        More to the point, Karel Čapek was from what’s now, where: Slovenia, Serbia or the Czech Republic?
A2)        The Czech Republic.

Q3)        1949 saw the BBC do a live version of which H. G. Wells story: The Invisible Man, The Time Machine or The Sleeper Awakes?
A3)        The Time Machine.

Q4)        Reginald Tate, André Morell and Jason Flemyng, have all played a fictional British rocket scientist.   Which fictional British rocket scientist?
A4)        Professor Bernard Quatermass.

Q5)        Finally … ?   Joanna Lumley and David McCallum played the main characters in which ITV series: Dr Who, Sapphire and Steel or The Nightmare Man?
A5)        Sapphire and Steel.
Here’s a thought …
“I never understand why people offer me roles, whether it’s Oliver Stone or Gus Van Sant.”
Josh Brolin, born February 12, 1968.
And a dying swan …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        Will do, Olga, will do.   I get the impression there’s going the a bit of a wait!
Yeah, phone cameras are getting VERY good.   As is the editing software.   But I still think that’s no replacement for having an eye for an image, or an ability to take photos.
Sports and dancing are possibly a good choice of subject, though: there’s a lot of action!   There’s a famous one of Ali: in a fight against Sonny Liston.   There’s been arguments, ever since, about whether Liston took a dive.

        Hello, Mum!

‡        That it was, Debbi: it’s very wordy, but riveting to watch.   The series had one hell of an opening theme, and was created by a chap called PJ. Hammond: he wrote Small Worlds and From Out of the Rain, for Torchwood.   Both would fit right into Sapphire and Steel!   (I’ve sent over the first story: the others are a little two bit.)

Q1) Romeo and Juliet (I don’t remember hearing about this. Reading some of the comments the actress has made, it might be difficult to defend the psychological damage she alleges, although they shouldn’t have

Q2) Bonanza (My father loves this series and anything Western-like)

Q3) soldiers

Q4) Nightwatch

Q5) fiddle players (I’m childless, so it seems he’s my patron too!)
Camera... I have no talent for taking pictures, and it runs in the family. My father loved taking pictures but was even worse than me if that is possible (he managed to cut my cousin in two, actually in half, not horizontally but vertically. One-half of him just appeared at the edge of the picture. He might have managed better with digital cameras or phones, but he never got the handle on mobiles before he died (making a phone call was his limit)

Funny can only see 2 sets of answers and a note from Debbi. Will have to take your word for the fact that all 3 got 5 out of 5.
