Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 19th April, 2023.
19th April, 2023.
Right … it’s after 18:00, on 18th April, 2023.
And?
As you’re probably aware, I was at a tribunal on 30th March: trying to get extra help from the Job Centre.
Which went in my favour: I now have what’s called a Limited Capability for Work.
But have not been told what happens next, or what — if any — money I’m due.
I’ve made repeated calls to the DWP: to see what’s happening.
And not heard a thing.
I was due to hear from the case officer: by 18:00, yesterday.
But — as ever — not contacted.
Again!
Contacting the court’s wasn’t especially helpful: they can only do something, if the Job Centre — or its department, the DWP — asks.
However … ?
An old friend — who’s also been throw this procedure — has suggested I should be on what’s called Personal Independence Payment: and that I should therefore phone the relevant enquiry line: to follow that end up.
Something I’m planning to do, today.
How that will go … ?
I really don’t know.
We’ll have to see.

Now … did I mention my nephew, Jude, was over, yesterday?
My nephew, Jude, was over, yesterday: and yes: we’ve down another video … !
I hope you enjoy it: it IS available in 4K, after all.

Let’s move on, shall we?
Yesterday’s Teaser saw saw Olga* and Mum† putting in their answers: with Olga scoring five out of five, and Mum on three.
Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?
Q1)19th April, 2021, saw the death of composer, Jim Steinman. He wrote It’s All Coming Back to Men Now: and produced the 1996 version recorded by whom?
Q2)19th April, 1608, saw the destruction of which Irish town: Belfast, Derry/Londonderry or Armagh?
Q3)A car bomb exploded: on 19th April, 1995. Where: Derry/Londonderry, Oklahoma City or Yangon?
Q4)Sierra Leone became a republic: on 19th April, 1971. The country is where: North America, West Africa or South East Asia?
Q5)Finally … ? The episode of The Tracey Ullman Show aired on 19th April, 1987, was the first to air a cartoon. Which cartoon: American Dad, Daria or The Simpsons?
* Very true, Olga, very true. I’ve distinct memory of one: standing in his usual spot, with a large cigar on the go. And the other chap, Keith, always did the Christmas decorations at the pub: they’d were quite something.
I know exactly what you mean about difficult: I find it tricky to navigate the system, I dread to think about some of the neighbours!
At least one Government department is working very well. That department is the Passport Office. I applied online for a Passport renewal at 11.15 on Thursday 13 April 2023. Got an Instant email telling me where to send my old passport. I put the old passport in an envelope and put the code and address on the envelope. I went to the sub post office on the Eastham estate and sent it first class sign for as requested. Got 2 emails sent 05.59 on Monday 17 April. First said that they had got my old passport. 2nd said that my new passport was approved and would be printed. Got 2 more emails on 18th April. First at 07.17 said that my new passport had been printed. The second at 21.23 said sign your new passport.
At 10.30 today (19 April 2023) my new passport was posted through my letterbox. I have found a black ball point pen and signed my new Passport.
Q1) Celine Dion (It’s all coming back to “me” rather than men... I wondered what the song was, for a minute, when I read the question!)
Q2) Derry/Londonderry
Q3) Oklahoma City
Q4) West Africa
Q5) The Simpsons I hope your phone call gets a better result today. Fingers crossed! (Talking about passports and things like that, I was surprised when I got my e-visa for Egypt in under 24 hours. I am sure last year it took a bit longer, but they must have me on their records now...
I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?
I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.
Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.
Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.
Thank you.
* I know many value their online privacy. I respect that. But hope you respect my wish to see who’s commenting on my blog: and my wish for you to introduce your self to me, and to your fellow commentors.
