Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 25-7-2023 — The Leak.

25th July, 2023: The Leak … !

Oh, now that’s sad … !

One of my neighbours lived with her partner: just — literally, just — around the corner from me.

‘Lived’, I should say.

Unfortunately?   When I got up this morning, it was to a torrent of Facebook posts telling me the woman had died.

Something I was able to confirm with her partner: who phoned me, earlier, today.

He’s obviously grief stricken.

What could I do … ?   Bar offer my much needed sympathies?

I don’t know.

But that’s what I did: along side the usual words, “If there’s anything I can do … ?”

Here’s hoping there’s something …

~≈Ü≈~

Saying that?

I know this morning was possibly not the time to ask him … but I’m wondering if his name was on the tenancy?

If not … ?

Well … I’d had to lose a home, under these circumstances …

~≈Ü≈~

At any rate … ?

In pleasanter news?

I managed to get my written and video reviews of “Those Old Scientists” finished and posted.

I hope you enjoy them.

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga*, Mum† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with everyone scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        25th July saw documents about US military action, leaked.   US military action, where: Afghanistan, Pakistan or Kurdistan?

Q2)        Leaked by which website?

Q3)        The documents were leaked to Der Spiegel, The New York Times and which British broadsheet?

Q4)        The documents alleged Pakistan, Iran and North Korea, were supporting whom: the Taliban, ISIS or al-Qaeda?

Q5)        Finally … ?   The leak took place in which year: 2009, 2010 or 2011?

Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        24th July, 2019, saw who named as the UK’s Prime Minister?
A1)        Boris Johnson.

Q2)        Who did he replace as PM: Theresa May, David Cameron or Tony Blair?
A2)        Theresa May.

Q3)        Who was his immediate replacement as PM?
A3)        Liz Truss.   (No body mention lettuce)

Q4)        Who — at the time of writing — is the UK’s current PM?
A4)        Rishi Sunak.

Q5)        Finally … ?   The PM’s official office — and London residence — is where: 10, Downing Street, 1, Whitehall or 221b, Baker Street?
A5)        10, Downing Street.

Here’s a thought …

“As of 28 July 2010, only 75,000 of the documents have been released to the public, a move which WikiLeaks says is ‘part of a harm minimisation process demanded by [the] source’.”
From the Wikipedia entry on the leak.

And a song …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        The weigh in went well, Olga: I’ve about a third of a kilo, so that’s something.
Yeah, that’s what the BBC were saying: that the PP were having issues.   They were also saying the current PM had been in touch with Carles Puigdemont: with the implication there could be a deal done.   The Chinese are right: we are living in interesting times … …

        Hello, Mum!

        I can imagine, Debbi!
Those commas aren’t weird!   They’re just … you know … formatting!   But it’s obviously gone and changed, since I learnt how to do addresses.   My copy of Hart’s agrees with you: there’s no comma.   I’m going to have to buy a copy of Fowler’s!
I’ve just looked at the price of a copy of Fowler’s on Amazon: no wonder I got Hart’s!
Oh … there’s an episode 8 sneak peek doing the rounds.   I think Erica Ortegas — the ship’s pilot — is going to be the focus of the episode.

So sorry to hear about your neighbour. I hope her partner doesn't have to face even worse news. It is so difficult to know what to say, especially if you don't know somebody really well.
Well done on the weight front.

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.

*   I know many value their online privacy. I respect that. But hope you respect my wish to see who’s commenting on my blog: and my wish for you to introduce your self to me, and to your fellow commentors.
