Nik Nak’s Old Peculiar — 27th September 2023.

27th September, 2023.

Right then …

It’s Wednesday: and … ?

I’m thinking a movie would be good.

But … ?

I’m also thinking I’ve got the next episode of Ahsoka, lined up.

We’ll just have to see what happens, won’t we … ?

~≈Ω≈~

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga*, Mum† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with Olga and Debbi scoring five out of five, and Mum on three.

The day also saw Trevor¶ leaving us a message.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        27th September is World Tourism Day.   According to whom: the UN, EU or AU?

Q2)        27th September is the feast day of Saint Vincent De Paul.   He’s that patron saint of what: dogs, cows or horses?

Q3)        27th September, 2018, saw the death of Marty Balin.   He was the founder of which US band: Jefferson Airplane, ZZTop or the Grateful Dead?

Q4)        27th September is the Consumación de la Independencia: a day that marks the end of the War of Independence.   Where: Argentina, Guatemala or Mexico?

Q5)        Finally … ?   27th September is a holiday for the French speaking community, where: France, Belgium or Morocco?

Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        In the EU, 26th September is the European Day of Languages.   How many official languages does the EU have: twenty-two, twenty-three or twenty-four?
A1)        Twenty-four: including English.

Q2)        According to the UN, 26th September is the International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons.   Most nuclear weapons are powered by what: chemical reactions, fission reactions or water wheels?
A2)        Fission reactions.

Q3)        Stanislav Petrov realised the Soviet early warning systems had issued a false alarm — a false alarm about US nuclear missiles — on 26th September. 26th September of which years of the 1980s?
A3)        1983.   (I can’t see if that has anything to do with International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons …)

Q4)        The first mission in the Biosphere 2 Dome started: on 26th September, 1991.   It lasted until 26th September, when: 1992, 1993 or 1994?
A4)        26th September, 1993.

Q5)        Finally … ?   Which Anglo-French Jets made a record Atlantic crossing on 26th September, 1973?
A5)        Concorde.

Here’s a thought …
“Being an MP is the sort of job all working-class parents want for their children — clean, indoors and no heavy lifting.”
Diane Abbott, born 27 September 1953.
And a song …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        Me neither, Olga: but I do make an exception for the snooker!

        Hello, Mum!

        My pleasure, Debbi!
(I can still remember seeing the last ever episode, at my Gran’s place.   It was quite something to see.)

        Cheers, Trevor!

My Mom's GP has referred her to a neurologist. Fingers crossed it doesn't take too long, but at least it feels as if something might be happening.

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
