NikNak’s Daily Teaser — 20th September 2023.

20th September, 2023.

Right … it’s Wednesday.

And there’s a possibility of dinner.

We’ll have to see about that: I’ll let you know, as and when it happens.

~≈Œ≈~

Before I move on, though … ?

Yes: today is Wednesday.

Which means yesterday was Tuesday: and the day my nephew made more videos!

Feel free to hit the ‘Like’ button!

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Mum* and Debbi† putting in their answers: with both scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        20th September, 2000, saw the Real IRA attack the HQ of one of the UK’s intelligence services.    Which intelligence service: SIS, SS or GCHQ?

Q2)        Which country’s Lebanese embassy was bombed, on 20th September, 1984: the USA’s, the USSR’s or West Germany’s?

Q3)        The Soviet Luna 16 probe landed on the Moon, on 20th September.   20th September of which year of the 1970s?

Q4)        During the re-unification of Italy, 20th September, 1870, saw Italian troops enter where: Rome, Naples or Milan?

Q5)        Finally … ?   20th September, 1911, saw the RMS Olympic collide with the HMS Hawke.   What was the HMS Hawke: a cruiser, an aircraft carrier or a submarine?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        19th September is Talk Like a Pirate Day.   The day’s founders, John Baur and Mark Summers, are from which US state: Oregon, Washington or California?
A1)        Oregon.

Q2)        The day’s been adopted by whom: Pastafarians, Rastafarians or the Church of the Tin Vagabond?
A2)        Pastafarians: members of the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster.

Q3)        Pirate Bay is the world’s most notorious torrent tracking site.   It was originally founded where: Sweden, Denmark or Jamaica?
A3)        Sweden.

Q4)        The Jolly Roger was used by some pirates.   It was a what: hat, flag or sail?
A4)        Flag.   (Some pirates alternated between using black flags — to show they took prisoners — with red flags: to show they weren’t.)

Q5)        Finally … ?   The various pirate codes were known as what: codes, rules or articles?
A5)        Articles.
Here’s a thought …
“All art is propaganda. It is universally and inescapably propaganda; sometimes unconsciously, but often deliberately, propaganda.”
Upton Sinclair, September 20, 1878 – November 25, 1968.
And a song …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        Hello, Mum!

You’ve probably heard “I’m the Urban Spaceman”, Debbi‡.   That’s their best known one.   (It was produced by Paul McCartney, in case you wondered … !)

That song was sung by Neil Innes, one of the bands’ two singers.   You’ll’ve heard the other singer, Viv Stanshall, on Tubular Bells: he introduces all the instruments on side one.

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.

*   I know many value their online privacy. I respect that. But hope you respect my wish to see who’s commenting on my blog: and my wish for you to introduce your self to me, and to your fellow commentors.
