Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 11-4-2024 — William and Mary.

11th April, 2024: William and Mary.

Thursdays!

The yummiest day of the week!

OK, maybe it isn’t.

It IS however, a day when I can look forward to watching the next episode of Star Trek Discovery.

So that’s something to look forward to.

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Mum*, Olga† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with Olga and Debbi scoring five out of five, and Mum on three.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        William 3rd and Mary 2nd were crowned as joint monarchs.   On 11th April of which year: 1685, 1687 or 1689?

Q2)        The pair were joint monarchs of England, Scotland and where?

Q3)        William 3rd was also known as William of where: Blue, Yellow or Orange?

Q4)        William could claim the thrones as he was a grandson of whom: Charles 1st, Charles 2nd or Charles 3rd?

Q5)        Finally … ?   Mary could claim the thrones as she was whose heir: James 1st and 6th, James 2nd and 7th or Charles 3rd?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        10th April is the one-hundred and first (101st) day of a leap year.   What is it in a non-leap year?
A1)        The one hundredth.

Q2)        One Hundred and One Dalmatians was a 1961 film produced by which studio: Warner Brothers, Walt Disney or Universal Pictures?
A2)        Walt Disney.

Q3)        Is 101 a prime number?
A3)        Yes.   (It’s the smallest prime number, above 100.)

Q4)        Room 101 is a torture chamber.   In which book: Burmese Days, Animal Farm or 1984?
A4)        1984.

Q5)        Finally … ?   The US Army’s 101st Airborne Division are known as the “Screaming” whats: the Screaming Eagles, Screaming Coyotes, Screaming Blue Messiahs or the Screaming Ab-Dabs?
A5)        The Screaming Eagles.   (I get the impression the screaming ab-dabs are only slightly worse than the screaming opizootics§.)
Here’s a thought …
“He ruled Britain and Ireland alongside his wife, Queen Mary II, and their joint reign is known as that of William and Mary.”
From the Wikipedia entry on William 3rd.
And another …
“Mary mostly deferred to her husband – a renowned military leader and principal opponent of Louis XIV – when he was in England. She did, however, act alone [when needed], proving herself to be a powerful, firm, and effective ruler.”
From the Wikipedia entry on Mary 2nd.
And a history …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        Hello, Mum!   (It was the Screaming Eagles.)

They are?   That’ll please Jude, then, Olga!   (If I’ve understood it?   The bottled version’s a fancy squash.   The canned version has a LOT of caffeine!)
I’m grateful I did.   Mikey the Rabbit can be nasty!

‡        If I … um … find copies, Debbi, should I send them your way?   They may have fallen off the back of a lorry!   Not that I know what lorries look like …

§        Robert Holmes could coin a term.

I saw prime bottles in the physical shop of Ali Express as well, but they are cheaper in the supermarkets...
Rabbits do have a bit of a mixed reputation, don't they?

  3. That would be great! :)

Went to NIH today, but chose not to get injections. We're going to try doing the PT and OT alone. I'm interested in seeing how that goes.

There's a William and Mary College here, so there you go. Still hanging onto the royals, one way or another. It's in Virginia, of course. :)

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
