Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 29-4-2024 — International Dance Day

29th April, 2024: International Dance Day.

🎵La la🎶 … Monday, Monday … !

Yes: it’s officially Monday.

Which is a cue to start singing, obviously.

But is also a cue to get up early.

Yes: it’s weight management day, again, today.

Hopefully?

Putting sweeteners in my tea will have made a difference.

There’s rumours.

Of course there’s rumours!

Especially when technology company, Apple, is involved.

Especially when you consider the company’s announced an Apple event for 7th May, this year.

Inevitably?

There’s speculation that new M4 chips will feature: in either new models of iPads, or in new Macs.

That family of chips could well be interesting.

I’m using an M2 Mac mini: and, problems aside, the machine does seem fast.

An M4 could well be a serious improvement.

About my only suggestion?

Is about the internal hard-drive.

Apple currently retails most of their consumer models — the MacBook Air, the iMac and the Mac mini — with 256gb solid state drives.

Which are OK … if you’re doing light work.

But, as far as I’m concerned, aren’t necessarily large enough for heavier use.

I can only hope that if Apple does introduce whizzy new chips?

That they increase hard drive size in their baseline models, as well.

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga*, Mum† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with Olga and Debbi scoring five out of five, and Mum on three.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        29th April is International Dance Day.   According to who: the EU, UNESCO or the AL?

Q2)        Which ‘C’ designs dances?

Q3)        A crew does what: ballet, break dancing or jazz dancing?

Q4)        Eddie Brown, the Clark Brothers, and Roy Castle, all did what sort of dancing: break dancing, tap dancing or jazz dancing?

Q5)        Finally … ?   Pointe shoes are worn by whom: ballet dancers, tap dancers or jazz dancers?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        28th April is the World Day for Health and Safety at … where?
A1)        Work.

Q2)        The UK’s Health and Safety body is the Health and Safety … what?
A2)        Health and Safety Executive.

Q3)        That UK agency is based where: Bootle, Chelmsford or Derby?
A3)        Bootle.

Q4)        The SafeWork programme promotes health and safety. It’s run by which UN agency: the WHO, the ILO or the ITU … ?
A4)        The International Labour Organization, or ILO.

Q5)        Finally … ? In the UK, the COSHH regulations are the Control Of what Hazardous to Health?
A5)        Control Of Substances Hazardous to Health.
Here’s a thought …
“No one dances sober, unless he is insane.”
Cicero.
A song …

And an earworm …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        That’s OK, I’m sure he’ll let you off, Olga! :D
Kids really do have imagination, don’t they?   An intelligent lettuce sounds like quite an idea!   At any rate, it sounds like you’ve got a winner, there!
I know this won’t work in Spanish … but … ?   What vegetable sung “Be Bop a Lula”?   Aubergine Vincent.   Sorry, sorry!

        Hello, Mum!

‡        It seemed a very appropriate quote, Debbi: especially as yesterday was Sir Terry’s birthday.   And that video’s really rather good§.   Did you know it’s from a film called Absolute Beginners?   I keep meaning to watch it: purely because the theme tune is fantastic!
I don’t know if you’re right, there, Debbi: isn’t OSHA the ‘Occupational Safety and Health Administration’?   I’m guessing the UK equivalent would be the HSE, the Health and Safety Executive.   I’m also guessing the relevant part of their regulations would be Subpart H — Hazardous Materials.   There’s a snazzy title … !

§        There used to be a cigarette machine like that, opposite Romford station, Debbi: the things were design classics, but long since gone.

I hope your weight loss appointment went well today. In Spanish is Berenjena (aubergine) and in Catalan, albergínia, so perhaps in Catalan...

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
