Q2)10th May, 2022, saw Elizabeth 2nd miss the State Opening of Parliament. Who read the Queen’s Speech in the Opening: Charles 3rd, Camilla or Sophie, Duchess of Wessex?
Q4)Prior to 1969, 10th May was the feast day of Job, the Biblical figure. The Book of Job is in which part of the Bible: the Old Testament, the New Testament or the Apocrypha?
A4)The OldTestament. (The Apocrypha is the stuff that’s been left out of the Bible: for various reasons.)
Q5)Finally … ? The Western Hemisphere’s (then) tallest building was completed: on 10th May, 2013. Where is it: New York, Paris or London?
† Very true, Olga: ignorance isn’t bliss, at times like this. I felt the same when Storm Constantine, died. I couldn’t do anything except pass on my condolences. And when an SF writer called Julian May, passed: I didn’t know her, but valued her work.
Oh, elections … ! Did you ever hear “Won’t Get Fooled Again”? That “here’s the new boss” line seems relevant …
Have fun at the festival: what’s it marking, out of interest?
‡ It had me laughing, Debbi! :D
And couldn’t Nicky just sing?! The man had a genuine talent, he really did. His version of “Heartbreak Hotel” is the definitive one, I think.
Oh … have you got access to Disney⁺, Debbi?
§ There’s a certain irony to digging up Nicole’s “A Little Peace”. There’s none, today.
Q5) 1956 You're right. This neighbourhood (Sants Badal), was sort-of "created" when they changed the way the city was divided up about twenty years ago, so there isn't a lot of sense of identity, and the associations and groups around are trying to build it up, so this is what they call the "Spring Festival" and it is their bit to try to give it a "Festa Major". This morning has gone quite well, and there are plenty of things organised for later.
You mention "Won't Get Fooled Again". So totally relevant to our times!
I distinctly remember it playing on the radio of a cab I took once. I was 15, sitting there thinking, "That's politics for you." Or words to that effect. :)
I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?
I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.
Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.
Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.
Thank you.
* I know many value their online privacy. I respect that. But hope you respect my wish to see who’s commenting on my blog: and my wish for you to introduce your self to me, and to your fellow commentors.
† Your Facebook, X/Twitter, Blogger, Instagram, TikTok or LinkedIn profile are acceptable. I also like seeing folks webpages.
