Tuesday 21 May 2024

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 21-5-2024 — International Tea Day.

21st May, 2024.

Right then … it’s Tuesday!

And, frankly?

I’ve got I’m Sorry I Haven’t A Clue on in the background.

Where Tony Hawks has just murdered the Communards version of “Don’t Leave Me This Way”.

Dearie, dearie me … !

~≈¥≈~

Can I admit to being in something of a doomy mood, today?

I’ve had mental images of nuclear war going through my head: not helped by having the Annihilation mix of “Two Tribes” on in the background.

I have to say, after seeing Threads?

The Patrick Allen speeches are no longer the funny Mickey-take I thought they were in the 1980s.

They’re terrifying*.

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Mum† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with both scoring five out of five.

The day also saw Olga§ leaving us a message.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        21st May is one of two International Tea Day.   When’s the other: 15th December, 13th November or 11th October?

Q2)        According to the UN’s page on the day, tea is the world’s mostly widely drunk drink.   After what: water, coffee or beer?

Q3)        Tea is made from the Camellia sinensis plant.   The plant is a what: shrub, moss or fern?

Q4)        Tetley were the first company to sell what in the UK: lose tea leaves, teabags or teaspoons?

Q5)        Finally … ?   Some three percent of tea’s dry weight is made up of what: caffeine, cocoa or carbon?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        20th May is World Bee Day: according to the United Nations.   Which country proposed Bee Day: Slovenia, Slovakia or Bosnia?
A1)        Slovenia.

Q2)        The day marks the birth of Anton Janša.   Janša was a pioneering what: beekeeper, bird watcher or rose grower?
A2)        Beekeeper.

Q3)        Bees are what: insects, arachnids or crustaceans?
A3)        Insects.

Q4)        Many bees live in which ‘H’?
A4)        Hives: also called a beehive.

Q5)        Finally … ?   Honey bees do a what: waggle dance, honey dance or metal dance?
A5)        A waggle dance.   (It shows the rest of The hive where pollen can be found.)
Here’s a thought …
“The earliest written records of tea come from China.”
From the Wikipedia entry on Tea.
And a song …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        I’ve now got the Final Story mix of Paul Hardcastle’s “19” on, now.   By contrast?   It’s light and fluffy,

        Hello, Mum!

I THINK you got the fifth question wrong, Debbi¶: I’ll try and double check, when I get the chance … !
Oh, I got listening to the commentary on “Boom”, last night.   Apparently, Jon Pertwee owned a burger bar in Acton!

§        It went well enough, Olga … although my weight’s up, again!   Oy!
And I’ll keep my eyes open for you, too: and keep posting the links past you!

I’ve got a gong if you want it, Debbi …

I managed to make a quick visit today, Paul. I had a class with Jordi this morning. His wife fell while they were hiking and has broken her arm. They are waiting for further tests and a decision if she needs an operation or not (he's shown me the X-ray and although it is not my area of expertise, I suspect she might). They had a holiday booked starting at the end of next week, so at the moment it is not clear if they'll be able to go.
Tomorrow I'm meeting a friend mid-morning and we'll go to see an exhibition, have lunch, go for a walk, so I don't think I'll have time to join the teaser, although I'll try and pay a visit if I can.
Sorry about the weight and take care.

  3. OMG! Jon Pertwee had a restaurant in Acton? Interesting. :)

Is that anywhere near Whitstable? :)

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
