Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 11th October 2024.

11th October, 2024.

I’m rich: I’m rich … !

Actually … ?

No, I’m not!

But I have — finally — had the initial payment of Personal Independence Payment, the back-pay portion, through.

Granted, a chunk of that’s gone: Christmas, and some new bits and bobs, are on order.

But … ?

That’s a load of my mind!

~≈🪑≈~

Let’s move on.

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga*, Mum† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with Olga and Debbi scoring five out of five, and Mum on three.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        11th October, 2024, sees which country mark an uprising in 1941: North Macedonia, Macedonia or South Macedonia?

Q2)        11th October is the UN sponsored International Day of the what: Girl Child, African Diaspora or Cities?

Q3)        11th October is the feast day of Pope John 23rd.   He’s the patron saint of what: the Italian airforce, the Italian army or the Italian navy?

Q4)        11th October is General Pulaski Memorial Day in the US.   The general in question was from which European country: Poland, the Ukraine or Belorussian?

Q5)        Finally … ?   The Polaroid Corporation filed for bankruptcy on 11th October.   Of which year: 2001, 2002 or 2003?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        10th October is the World Day Against the Death Penalty.   Judicial death penalties are known as capital … what?
A1)        Punishment.

Q2)        The death penalty is also known as the death what: sentence, decree or judgement?
A2)        Sentence.

Q3)        In 20th Century Britain, executions were usually carried out by what: hanging, lethal injection or the electric chair?
A3)        Hanging.   (Hereditary peers and freemen of the city of London were supposed to be hanged with a silk rope.)

Q4)        The last woman hanged in the UK was Ruth Ellis.   She was hanged in which year of the 1950s?
A4)        1955.   You can find links to my questions about Ruth, here and here.   The answers are in the next days questions.   I suspect that, these days, she’d get a far more sympathetic trial.

Q5)        Finally … ?   The UK finally abolished the death penalty, when: 1996, 1998 or 2000?
A5)        1998.   The last functional gallows in the UK were in HMP Wandsworth: and dismantled in 1994.   Within the lives of most of us reading this …
Here’s a thought …
“I believe that cinema picks up ideas from society and not the other way round.”
Amitabh Bachchan, born 11 October 1942.
A song …

And some background music …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        Threads is definitely worth a watch, Olga: it’s still the most powerful thing!   And relevant, I think.   (Actually, my video review of it has had another comment: which is very appreciated!)
Yeah: I think if push comes to shove, I’m going to have to phone the pharmacy concerned: and see what they tell me!   And phone my regular chemists: there’s a chance I qualify for more free COVID tests.
I’m feeling a touch better, to be honest.   Getting a lot of cash probably helped!

Hello, Mum!   (Oh, I’ve managed to get Christmas presents … )

Having that much cash helps, Debbi: I know that much!

Good to know the cash helped and you're feeling better. Changeable weather takes its toll as well (I went with Pau to interview the new director of a music hall with a lot of history in the city, El Molino (I'm sure there must be an English version, but this is probably more complete https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/El_Molino). We were supposed to have the interview at 10 am (it got quite delayed) and I decided to go walking, and it's a fair distance. And it was pretty chilly when I set off, but by the time I came back it was warming up a fair bit, so you need to dress for all seasons.
I've agreed to cover an item of news about a group of neighbours picking up litter in Montjuïc, on Sunday morning, so it will be another game of guess what the weather is like...

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
