Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 12-10-2024 — Yom Kippur

12th October, 2024: Yom Kippur.

It’s now, officially, Saturday: and a few smaller bits have been delivered.

Including a few Christmas presents: ones the driver would only deliver, once I’ve given him a code number,

Finding that on my phone was fun!

At any rate … ?

One thing I got was a new kettle …

One with a measure on both sides: and therefore, easy to use for a left hander like me.

That’s a result, I think.

Let’s move on.

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga*, Mum† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with Olga and Debbi scoring five out of five, and Mum on four.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        Nightfall on 12th October, 2024, marks the end of Yom Kippur.   Yom Kippur is the Day of what: Atonement, Achievement or Attrition?

Q2)        It’s the holiest day of the year in which religion: Judaism, Christianity or Islam?

Q3)        Yom Kippur comes ten days after Rosh Hashanah.   Rosh Hashanah is what: the New Year celebration, harvest festival or summer solstice?

Q4)        Yom Kippur is one of the High … what?

Q5)        Finally … ?   Yom Kippur is the last of the Ten Days of which ‘R’?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        11th October, 2024, sees which country mark an uprising in 1941: North Macedonia, Macedonia or South Macedonia?
A1)        North Macedonia.   Macedonia used to be an area in Greece: it’s not a nation, in other words. South Macedonia gets you redirected to the Greek region.

Q2)        11th October is the UN sponsored International Day of the what: Girl Child, African Diaspora or Cities?
A2)        Girl Child.

Q3)        11th October is the feast day of Pope John 23rd.   He’s the patron saint of what: the Italian airforce, the Italian army or the Italian navy?
A3)        The Italian army.

Q4)        11th October is General Pulaski Memorial Day in the US.   The general in question was from which European country: Poland, the Ukraine or Belorussian?
A4)        Poland.

Q5)        Finally … ?   The Polaroid Corporation filed for bankruptcy on 11th October.   Of which year: 2001, 2002 or 2003?
A5)        2001.
Here’s a thought …
“It occurs annually on the 10th of Tishrei, corresponding to a date in late September or early October.”
From the Wikipedia entry on the holiday …
A service …

And an earworm …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        I think we’ve talked about el Molino, before now, Olga: it’s named after the Moulin Rouge, isn’t it?   The neon lights outside are a bit of a clue!   :D
Oh, dear … litter picking in the wind … !   That’s going to be fun!

Hello, Mum!   (I’m looking at furniture: Amazon only to assemble office chairs!)

It’s amazing how fast it goes, too, Debbi!   I forget who said that money dissolves rapidly: but they were very wise!

Yes, I thought we might, and indeed, it comes from the Molin Rouge, although at first it was called "Pajarera Catalana" that would be the Catalan aviary. Go figure!
I'm pleased to hear you've managed to get a few bits and bobs, because we don't know what the winter might bring.
And I'll report back on the litter picking. The people organising it are good fun, though, so I'm sure I'll be entertained, weather permitting!

I think the ready access to consumer goods online can lead to overspending. I'm likely as guilty as anyone else of falling prey to a sales pitch. :) Hey, I believed in Amazon once. :-D
