I’ve paid my council tax for this year: or, at least, had enough help from Brentwood Council’s hardship fund, to cover the cost.
I got a revised, zero, bill in May of this year.
So … ?
Why the council email me, last night: with another revised bill? For £417?
I don’t know.
Understandably, I’m not a happy bunny.
Frankly?
I’m going to have to take documentary proof that the bill’s been settled, today: and that I’m getting Personal Independence Payment, as that also gets a discount.
But … ?
You’d think the council would keep a record of these things.
The idea that those in severe need can opt to have help in ending their lives: with or without the help of a physician, or family member.
There’s been moves to introduce various bills over the years: moves that have had more attention, ever since author Terry Pratchett advocated for the idea, after his Alzheimer’s diagnosis.
Labour MP, Kim Leadbeater, has introduced a Private Members bill in the House of Commons: that legalises it in the UK.
Q1)12th November, marks the birth of Sun Yat-Sen. It’s marked as a public holiday, where: the People’s Republic of China, the Republic of China or the Mongolian People’s Republic?
Q2)Lothair 3rd was crowned as king of the West Frankish Kingdom: on 12th November, AD954. The Kingdom is now, mostly, part of modern where?
Q3)Mikhail Chigorin was born on 12th November, 1850. Famously, he played what: backgammon, chess or poker?

Q6)What’s Washington state’s largest city by population: Seattle, Vancouver or Olympia?
A6)Seattle. (Yes: there is a Vancouver in Washington: go look it up!)
Q7)What’s Washington’s state sport: dog mushing, pickle ball or ice hockey?
A7)Pickle ball: although it’s usually styled ‘pickleball’. I think I’ve seen the balls used in all sorts of children’s games. (And on Cybermen shoulders§.)
Q8)What US state is to Washington’s immediate south: Oregon or California?
Q1) the Republic of China (how confusing! I’m afraid I’ll always think of the place as Taiwan)
Q2) France
Q3) chess
Q4) Belgium
Q5) 2019 Well done on the weight front. I hope you clarify the issue of the Council Tax. I know here it all depends on the benefits you're getting, but I don't imagine it should affect the bill if you've already paid it. The conversation about the balls reminded me of a funny translation I saw on Amazon. I was checking one of those spiky massage balls (they were offered as part of Amazon Vine) and, for some unknown reason, there were two identical balls, but the description was slightly different. One of them described them (in Spanish) as "massage balls for hedgehogs". I haven't met any hedgehog who buys anything on Amazon, and I am not sure how well the ball would survive such a massage, but I found it hilarious. (I imagine they might have wanted to describe it as a hedgehog ball, but something was lost in translation).
I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?
I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.
Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.
Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.
Thank you.
* I know many value their online privacy. I respect that. But hope you respect my wish to see who’s commenting on my blog: and my wish for you to introduce your self to me, and to your fellow commentors.
