Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 13-11-2024 — Bloody Sunday

13th November, 2024: Bloody Sunday.

Right … I think I’ve got that sorted.

Late on Monday, I got an email from Brentwood Council: telling me I owed £417 in council tax.

When — as far as I knew — it had been paid in May.

So?

Wrote a suitably snotty letter.

And, yesterday;
  • Went to Brentwood Library.
  • Printed the letter out,
  • Printed out copies of the bills,
  • Printed out a copy of my Personal Independence Payment award letter,
  • Stapled them all together,
And took them in to Brentwood Council.

Where the receptionist happily accepted the package.

Who, after as polite an inquiry as I could manage, told me two things.
  • That there’d been a change of circumstances form sent out: which I don’t remember getting.
  • I needed to fill in the online Council Tax Reduction — Working Age form: so my details were up to date.
That latter job … ?

Took about ten minutes.

Or, at least, ten minutes … on top of how ever long printing everything out and lugging it to Brentwood Council, took.

Ho — if you’ll excuse the phrase — hum!

Let’s move on.

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Mum*, Olga† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with Olga and Debbi scoring five out of five, and Mum on four.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here’s a quote …
“A contemporary report noted that 400 were arrested and 75 people were badly injured, including many police, two policemen being stabbed and one protester bayonetted.”
From the Wikipedia entry about this Bloody Sunday.
A song …

And an earworm¶ …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        Hello, Mum!

        Oh, I do, too, Olga.   But I thought phrasing the question the way I did would get people thinking!
        It’s the same here, Olga: from what I’ve learnt, we’re supposed to be exempt from paying Council Tax, if we’re specifically on PIP.   Exempt: or due a large discount.   That could be very useful.
        A massage ball … for hedgehogs?   The less said, the better!   🤣

        It’s amazing where they turn up, Debbi!

¶        Amina should’ve won, that year: “Le Dernier qui a parlé...” was the better song!
