Right … it’s Monday … and I’m up, early.

Yet again, I’ll be heading for Brentwood High Street, to go to my weight management class.

Hopefully, I’ll have lost some weight: and carried on the loss from the last two weeks.

Here’s hoping.

I can visit my favourite washing-machine shop!

I either need a repair: which I believe will cost.

Or a new washing machine.

Which will cost: but may or may not cost as much as the repair.

It might just be cheaper to get a new machine … …

Q1)        3rd November is Culture Day in Japan.   It was first marked in which year of the 1940s?

A1)        1948.

Q2)        The All-Japan Kendo is traditionally held on Culture Day.   Kendo is a type of what: sword-fighting, wrestling or quarter-staff fighting?

A2)        Sword-fighting.   (The sport uses traditional bamboo swords.)

Q3)        The day will see many Japanese schools holding a culture … what?

A3)        A Culture festival.

Q4)        Some people will be celebrating the day: by wearing which Japanese ‘K’?

A4)        A kimono.   (Apparently, it’s worn with the left side wrapped over the right. Unless the person wearing it is deceased.   I think I’d have problems, going by the way I wear a dressing gown … )

Q5)        Finally … ?   Miso is a traditional Japanese what: soup, wine or noodle?

A5)        Soup.

†        The placing of that photocopier definitely sounds unwise, Olga.   Granted, people are careful in office kitchens: but even so, that sounds like an accident waiting to happen.

        As do the batteries in electric vehicles.   I hope they ARE protected: floods are becoming more common.

        The washing machine … is my own damn fault: but, yes, having the PCB, the motherboard, at the top of the machine seems wise.   But … ?   I’m assuming it’s at the bottom as the water inlets are at the top of the machine: that keeps them as far apart as possible.

        A bull show, Olga?   That’s not the first phrase that springs to mind, about governments!   Either way — and I say this, knowing how you feel about the Spanish monarchy — I was mildly impressed with the King: he made an effort to visit an (understandably) angry mob.

        Whatever else, happens, though … ?   I can only hope this leads to improvements on the weather defence front!
