Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 27th November 2024.

27th November, 2024.

Hmmm …

It seems something — something — is happening.

It seems that a ceasefire deal has gone into effect in the Middle East: between Israel and Hezbollah.

Which is nice to see.

But … ?

Can I make a confession … ?

I’m deeply cynical about the word, ‘ceasefire’.

So many of them have collapsed, over the years.

~≈🛑≈~

A few weeks ago?

An attack took place in Brentwood: one that took place in the council flats I used to live in.

That was … shocking: and still is.

But?

Someone has been charged with murder: and his barrister has pled ‘Not guilty’ on his behalf.

The barrister’s done it, as “… the prison in which [the suspect] is being held was unable to locate him.”

How the hell have they managed to lose a murder suspect?

~≈🚨≈~

You’ve heard of the Groucho Club, haven’t you … ?

It’s a members-only club in Soho: and very well known.

Apparently?

The place has temporarily had its license suspended: as a ‘serious crime’ has taken place, there.

What’s happened?

None of the reports I’ve seen are saying.

But … ?

I’m hoping police don’t lose the suspect …

Let’s move on.

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga*, Mum† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with Olga and Debbi scoring five out of five, and Mum on three.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        Lashana Lynch was born on 27th November, 1987.   She plays 007 in which James Bond film?

Q2)        Singer, Chanyeol, was born on 27th November, 1992.   He’s a member of which boy-band: BTS, Day6 or Exo?

Q3)        27th November is the feast day of Saint Leonard of Port Maurice.   The Port Maurice in question is in which European nation?

Q4)        27th November is the feast day of Clovis 1st.   He was a king of whom: the Franks, Germani or Bretons?

Q5)        Finally … ?   James Pratt and John Smith were hanged on 27th November, 1835.    They were the last two people hanged for which crime: sodomy, barratry or bribery?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        Captain James Cook visited Hawaii’s second largest island: on 26th November, 1778.   What’s the island called?
A1)        Maui.

Q2)        President Abraham Lincoln named 26th November as Thanksgiving: on 26th November, 1863.   It’s been marked on the fourth Thursday in November since which year of the 1940s?
A2)        1942.

Q3)        26th November is Constitution Day, where: India, China or Laos?
A3)        India.

Q4)        26th November, 1998, saw Tony Blair become the first British Prime Minister to address the parliament of where: Israel, the Republic of Ireland or Russia?
A4)        Republic of Ireland.

Q5)        Finally … ?   26th November is the feast day of Æthelwine of Athelney.   The village of Athelney is in which English county: Gloucestershire, Somerset or Essex?
A5)        Somerset.
Here’s a thought …
“I want to do everything in the world that can be done.”
Fanny Kemble, 27 November 1809 – 15 January 1893.
And a song …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        Oh, I now about the updates, Olga: from macOS 15.1 to macOS 15.1.1.   I put it onto the old Mac mini, before I reset it … when had to install it onto the new one, as part of the set up.   Apparently, the problems mostly affect older Intel Macs: so I needn’t’ve hurried.
Mobile tips … ?   That’s a fantastic idea!   The nearest we could do are the visiting scrap collectors: but they’re very infrequent visitors.
I think we need a song, Olga: as we gave it a mention, yesterday …

†        Hello, Mum!

The series is very quotable, Debbi!
(Did I mention I bought an Eno LP called Music for Installations, Debbi?   It’s a nice one to write to, I find.)
