Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 22-11-2024 — Lebanon

22nd November, 2024: Lebanon.

Right … it’s officially pay day.

And, of course … I’m going to be paying bills and shopping.

About the only thing putting me off … ?

Is the simple fact the BBC’s weather page is telling me Brentwood is facing single figure temperatures.

All together, now, folks:

 Ho-HUM … !

~≈☔️≈~

Let’s move on.

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga*, Mum† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with Olga and Debbi scoring five out of five, and Mum on four.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        22nd November is independence day in Lebanon: marking the day the country declared itself independent from where?

Q2)        What’s Lebanon’s capital?

Q3)        What’s Lebanon’s official language: Arabic, Swahili or English?

Q4)        The country’s currency is the Lebanese what: pound, shilling or groat?

Q5)        Finally … ?   Lebanon is a what: republic or monarchy?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        21st November is World Television Day.   Smart TVs can be connected to what: the internet, a hard-drive or the telephone?
A1)        The internet.

Q2)        IPTV is Internet what TV?
A2)        Internet Protocol TV.

Q3)        Cable TV services are usually transmitted over what: fibre optic cables, copper cable or silver cables?
A3)        Fibre optic cables.

Q4)        Sky, and BSB, broadcast what: satellite TV, cable TV or terrestrial TV?
A4)        Satellite TV.

Q5)        Finally … ?   A microwaveable meal eaten in front of the television is a TV … what?
A5)        A TV dinner.   (Cue the music)
Here’s a thought …

And a song§ …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        Oh, lord, Incitatus!   That’s possibly one of Caligula’s better idea’s, Olga¶!
As for Cute … ?   I’ll keep an eye peeled for it.   But I think it’s a case of art imitating nature.   There’s already robot companions aimed at the elderly: the first were Japanese, I think.   And strange ways of occupying the unemployed’s time get used in the pages of the Judge Dredd strip.   The main setting has a population of eight hundred million … ninety-eight percent of whom are unemployed, and have weird hobbies!
It’s not too bad, now I’ve got everything set up, Olga: but I’ve had to reinstall Spotify, and start using Mail.app.   My copy of the Thunderbird email client didn’t survive the transition.
It sounds like the fireworks were fun … !

        Hello, Mum!

        Yeah, I thought that might appeal, Debbi^ … !   😆
I have to admit, I could never get the hang of TV dinners: there was never enough on the plate.   Which possibly tells you why I have weight issues!
And you should see the squiggly red lines I get, Debbi.   Half the Wikipedia quotes I use are in American English: and I’m never sure of which spelling’s which.

§        The Human League’s song was written when Lebanon was deeply troubled.   It still is: at the time of writing, it had been hit by Israeli bombs …

Totally off the subject, Olga … you might want to see if there’s a Spanish language version of the Nemesis the Warlord strip available.   The art — by the late Kevin O’Neill — is eye-poppingly gothic.   I think I’ve mentioned the strip’s main villain was called Tomas de Torquemada …

^        I bought the Judge Dredd t-shirt, eventually, Debbi.   I’m willing to bet that someone won’t see the irony in the “Democracy Isn’t Working” slogan.   A DR and Quinch one may have been better!

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
