Q1)18th December, 1787, saw New Jersey become the third US state to do what: join the Union, ratify the constitution or introduce an income tax?
Q2)Epimetheus was discovered: on 18th December, 1966. It’s a moon of which planet: Jupiter, Saturn or Uranus?
Q3)18th December is the UN sponsored Arabic Language Day. It’s which most widely spoken language: first, second or third?
Q4)Steven Spielberg was born on 18th December. Of which year of the 1940s?
Q5)Finally … ? Leila Steinberg was born on 18th December, 1961. She was the original manager for which rapper: Tupac Shakur, 50Cent or Grandmaster Flash?
Q5)Finally … ? Tibetan Thukpa is popular in Bhutan. It’s a what: rice beer, noodle soup or yak cheese?
A5)Noodle soup. (A yak is the male of the species: whilst the female is the dri. Yak cheese would therefore be impossible … or very odd.)
Here’s a thought …
“I’ve always paid attention to religion … because I grew up in a religious background, but I’ve never felt a part of any of them. I think there’s something to be drawn from most of them — other than goat sacrificing.”
Brad Pitt, born December 18, 1963.
And music …
The next large question set is on the 31st of December.
* Hmmm … an electric shower might be an idea, Olga. But, to be honest? When I worked in the emergency-repair call centre, we’d get at least one call about them a week: where the things had blown the fuse board§!
That, and having electricity anywhere near water? Always put me off the things!
I haven’t seen a gas fire in years! We had one when we lived on Warley Mount: if I had the house to myself on a cold night, the gas fire, a good read, and a pot of tea, were heaven. A radiator’s not the same!
† Hello, Mum!
‡ I’ll try my best, Debbi! You’ll be pleased to hear none of the upcoming answers include the word, ‘ Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious’. Even though the sound of it … … … !
Technically, Debbi … ? You’re the longest serving commentor on Nik Nak’s Old Peculiar. I think you’re due a medal … !
§ I get the impression, Olga, that putting one in could be an issue, here: you’d have to lay a lot of water piping: and put a lot of wiring in. I think it might be too expensive for Clarion. And, as I’ve got a functioning shower …
Q5) Tupac Shakur You're probably right about the installation, but I lived in two places that had electric showers (including the house I bought) and I never had a problem with them, although I had problems with the boiler in both places! They heat up the water much faster and there aren't changes in the temperature. I do love them, but, as I told you, they aren't an option here. Unless I build my own house somewhere, it isn't going to happen, and I couldn't afford that...
I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?
I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.
Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.
Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.
Thank you.
* I know many value their online privacy. I respect that. But hope you respect my wish to see who’s commenting on my blog: and my wish for you to introduce your self to me, and to your fellow commentors.
