Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 22nd December 2024

22nd December, 2024.

Hmmm …

I’ve got a neighbour who’s very nice.

But … ?

Just contacted me … to ask if I can buy them some beer!

Given the time I’m writing this … ?

I think someone’s got a problem!

~≈🍺≈~

Let’s move on.

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga* Mum† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with everyone scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s five questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        Bernhard Goetz shot four would be muggers: on 22nd December, 1984.   In which city’s subway system?

Q2)        22nd December is National Mathematics Day.   Where: China, India or Brazil?

Q3)        Many Canadian Anglicans will marking the life of Henry Budd on 22nd December.   He was the first what ordained as an Anglican: Native American, Asian American or Canadian-American?

Q4)        The UK introduced a speed limit for rural roads: on 22nd December, 1965.   What was the limit: 65 miles per hour, 70 miles per hour or 75 miles per hour?

Q5)        Finally … ?   The Brandenburg Gate re-opened on 22nd December, 1989.   The Gate is in which country?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        “The Dead Planet” aired on 21st December, 1963.   It was the first episode of Doctor Who to feature whom: Cybermen, Ice Warriors, Time Lords or Daleks?
A1)        Daleks.

Q2)        21st December saw the Rochdale Society of Equitable Pioneers found their first co-operative store.   In which year of the 1840s?
A2)        1844.   (The group’s Rochdale Principles are seen as key to the movement’s founding.)

Q3)        21st December is the UN sponsored what: World Billiards Bay, World Basketball Day or World Bovril Day?
A3)        World Basketball Day.

Q4)        A Doll’s House premiered on 21st December, 1879.   Who wrote A Doll’s House: Bertolt Brecht, Henrik Ibsen or Alexander Pushkin?
A4)        Henrik Ibsen.

Q5)        Finally … ?   Pan Am Flight 103 crashed on 21st December, 1988.   Over which Scottish town?
A5)        Lockerbie.
Here’s a thought …
“I think it’s a badge of honour to have a real flop on your resume.”
Ralph Fiennes, born 22 December 1962.
And a song …

The next large question set is on the 31st of December.

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        If I find a more recent photo of you, Olga, I’ll see wha I can do.   :D   It helps the ‘Animation’ setting takes years off you: the ‘Illustration’ one’s just turned me grey!   (I’m blowed if I’m posting that one!)
Yeah: I’ve modified my Teaser Template: so that I can mention how many questions there are in today’s set.   So long as I remember to use it, we’re laughing!

†        Hello, Mum!

British or English will do me, Debbi!   Just don’t call a Scot, an Englishman!   You’ll get a meaningful look!
Yeah: the Challenger, and Lockerbie, incidents were … nasty: and that’s putting it mildly.   So was 9/11.   Seeing planes deliberately flown into buildings was shocking.
I can remember what I thought, when I saw the footage: “I hope that’s the Michigan Militia that’s done that.   Because if that’s some nutters in the Middle East, there’s going to be hell on Earth …”

It's always good when technology decides to make us look younger. Yours look pretty good!

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
