Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 23rd December 2024.

23rd December 2024.

Yes: you’re right.

It is Monday.

Normally, that means I’d be up early: to head for my weigh management meeting.

But that’s off: until 6th January.

I’ve mixed feelings.

I’d like to keep track of my weight, after all.

But?

Sleeping in is a nice alternative …

~≈🛌≈~

Just in case you’re in the UK?

BBC Four will be airing a colourised version of The War Games, Patrick Troughton’s last story as Doctor Who, tonight.

At nine o’clock.

When — or if — it’s getting a blu-ray release?

Or an overseas airing, through the Dr Who Classic channel on YouTube?

I don’t know.

But I’d be interested to see what’s included on the blu-ray version.

I felt last’s year The Daleks In Colour release to be a touch … underwhelming.

Let’s move on.

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Mum*, Trevor†, Olga‡ and Debbi§ putting in their answers: with Trevor, Olga and Debbi, scoring five out of five and Mum on four.

Here’s a thought …
“My interest in plant-dispersal dates back to 1884, when, whilst surgeon of H.M.S. Lark, in the Solomon Islands, I made some observations on the stocking of a coral island with its plants, which were published in the Report on the Botany of the ‘Challenger’ Expedition.”.
From OBSERVATIONS OF A NATURALIST IN THE PACIFIC BETWEEN 1896 AND 1899 by HP Guppy, 23 December 1854 – 23 April 1926.
And a song …

The next large question set is on the 31st of December.

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        Hello, Mum!

And Happy Xmas to you, Trevor!   Or should I say ‘Happy Hogswatch’?

Cheers, Olga: I’ve managed to correct my database, and the text of the set, itself.   And thank you!   The Illustration style isn’t quite so flattering!   (I know I need a shave, but … … )

§        Taking the cardigan off could be an idea, Debbi … unless Maryland’s getting wintery … ?   (Most of the bobble hat’s vanished, Debbi: except the bobble!)

It isn't that bad. (Caricatures are always supposed to exaggerate, so it is quite nice, I think). And I love Debbie's!

  3. I never really liked when they colorized old movies. It seemed to change them without improving them.

And the colors, in the old days anyhow, looked too bright or the wrong hue or just off.

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
