† I know I’ve had to dig up an adjustable wrench, Olga: it struck me getting hold of the thing in a hurry would be wise.
I think it’s always handy to have some tools. An old boss always used to say “It’s better to have and not need them, rather than need them and have them.”
‡ Well, yeah, that is the other word, Debbi! (The song is the first thing that sprang to mind … )
Q5) The Netherlands Yes, I agree. It's always better to have something that you might need at some point. Unfortunately, with so little storage space these days, one can't keep hold of everything, just in case. (I have acquired over the years some tools that seem to be useful for almost everything, though. I remember a screwdriver that came with a kit to put together a lamp (it was a recycled one and I bought it for only 6 pounds), and that particular screwdriver, with a magnetic bit and all, seemed to fit an incredible amount of screws around the house. And it didn't cost me anything. I bought whole sets of screwdrivers, but that one was always the most useful.
I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?
I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.
Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.
Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.
Thank you.
* I know many value their online privacy. I respect that. But hope you respect my wish to see who’s commenting on my blog: and my wish for you to introduce your self to me, and to your fellow commentors.
