Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 23rd January 2025.

23rd January, 2025.

Right … I had the occupational therapist teams, in yesterday.

Measuring up for cupboards, wouldn’t you know?

I’m feeling pleased about it.

As the pair have agreed that, yes, my cupboards should be lowered.

Now … ?

Now all we need to do is persuade my landlord it’s wosname thing something they should do.

Here’s hoping!

~≈⏲️≈~
Let’s move on.

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Mum*, Olga† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with everyone scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s [insert number here] questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        The last signal from Pioneer 10 was detected on 23rd January.   Of which year: 2001, 2003 or 2005?

Q2)        Northwestern Air Flight 738 crashed on 23rd January, 2024.   In which North American country?

Q3)        Frank Farian died on 23rd January, 2024.   He produced which 1970s disco band?

Q4)        President Richard Nixon announced there was “… peace with honour” on 23rd January, 1973.   Peace, where: Vietnam, Korea or Cambodia?

Q5)        Finally … ?   The Union of Utrecht was formed with an agreement: one signed on 23rd January, 1579.   The city of Utrecht is in which modern country?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        Lord Byron was born on 22nd January.   Of which year of the 1780s?
A1)        1788.

Q2)        What was his first name?
A2)        George.

Q3)        He was educated at which Cambridge college: Trinity, Trinity Hall or Wolfson?
A3)        Trinity.

Q4)        As a result of a holiday in Switzerland, with Byron, Mary Shelley wrote which horror story?

Q5)        Finally … ?   Byron’s only legitimate child was Ada Lovelace.   Ada’s considered the world’s first what: computer programmer, poet or mathematician?
A5)        Computer programmer.
Here’s a thought …
“Television is a medium, so called because it is neither rare nor well-done.”
Ernie Kovacs, January 23, 1919 – January 13, 1962.
And a song …

The next ten question set is on 29th January: it’s about Desert Island Discs.

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        Hello, Mum … !

I know I’ve had to dig up an adjustable wrench, Olga: it struck me getting hold of the thing in a hurry would be wise.
I think it’s always handy to have some tools.   An old boss always used to say “It’s better to have and not need them, rather than need them and have them.”

Well, yeah, that is the other word, Debbi!   (The song is the first thing that sprang to mind … )

Yes, I agree. It's always better to have something that you might need at some point. Unfortunately, with so little storage space these days, one can't keep hold of everything, just in case. (I have acquired over the years some tools that seem to be useful for almost everything, though. I remember a screwdriver that came with a kit to put together a lamp (it was a recycled one and I bought it for only 6 pounds), and that particular screwdriver, with a magnetic bit and all, seemed to fit an incredible amount of screws around the house. And it didn't cost me anything. I bought whole sets of screwdrivers, but that one was always the most useful.

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
