Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 1-11-2025 — The Bombing of Saigon

1st November, 2025: the Bombing of Saigon.

Right …

I’ve been toying with both Apple’s Image Playground … and with ChatGPT’s image altering abilities.

And managed to use ChatGPT to turn this image of Bobby the Cat being bored …

Into this image of Bobby the Cat, singing …

Whether he sounds as good as the picture seems … ?

Is a whole other issue.

I’ve also used Image Playground to turn the embedded image from today’s Teaser video …

Into this:

After asking ChatGPT to make the thing look ‘menacing’.

That latter looks OK, I think.

Although I did have to change the exposure on the modified photo: the original version looked rather dark.

Quite what you make of them … ?

Well, you tell me … !

I have to admit, I don’t use PornHub, the world’s biggest porn site.

The older I get … ?

The less interested I am.

But I do know that — given the recent introduction of the UK’s Online Safety Act — that you now have a complicated process to go through, to verify your age: before you can use the site from the UK.

It’s a measure designed to prevent the under-eighteens using the site.

From what the BBC tell’s us?

Pornhub’s complaining about the loss of business.

Apparently, they’ve lost some seventy-seven percent of UK visitors, since the law’s introduction.

The news piece tells us that many are using VPNs, virtual private networks, to access the site.

But?

Having checked?

I’m very aware you can also use the Tor Browser, the browser the routes traffic, anonymously, to do the same thing.

I hate to sound picky … but there’s possibly a lot of bright kids out there, who can afford a good VPN, can’t use the free ones … but have worked out how to install Tor.

It’s available on practically everything except iPhones and Chromebooks* …

Whether you use a VPN, or Tor?

If you’ve got either, you’re not necessarily breaking the law.

But you can get around them …

Let’s move on.

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Mum†, Irene‡ and Debbi§ putting in their answers: with everyone scoring ten out of ten.

The day also saw Olga¶ leaving us a message.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        1st November saw a parade in Saigon, bombed.   In which year of the 1960s?

Q2)        The bombing took place during which war: the Vietnam War, the Korean War or the Second Gulf War>?

Q3)        Saigon is now better known as which city?

Q4)        The bombing was carried out by whom: the Viet Cong, the US Airforce or the Khmer Rouge?

Q5)        Finally … ?   The country the bombing took place in, was split into two halves.   Which two halves: north and south, upper and lower or east and west?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        “Bohemian Rhapsody” was released on 31st October.   Of which year of the 1970s?
A1)        1975.

Q2)        By which British band?
A2)        Queen.

Q3)        The band co-produced the record.   With who: Roy Thomas Baker, Tony Visconti or Trevor Horn?
A3)        Roy Thomas Baker.   (He produced the band’s first five LPs.)

Q4)        The song was on which of the band’s LPs: Sheer Heart Attack, A Night at the Opera or A Day at the Races?
A4)        A Night at the Opera.

Q5)        What was the name of the song’s b-side: “I’m In Love With My Car”, “You’re My Best Friend” or “God Save the Queen”?

Q8)        One line from the song is ‘Scaramouche, Scaramouche, will you do the Fandango?’   What is a fandango: a dance, a poem or a march?
A8)        A dance.

Q9)        The song also mentions Figaro.   Figaro first appears in a play called The Barber of where
A9)        The Barber of Seville.

Q10)        Finally … ?   The song went to Number One for nine weeks.   In part, due to the song’s what: video, production or free giveaways?
A10)        Video.
Here’s a thought …
“Altogether, about 30 shells were fired into the city centre.”
From a BBC article on the bombing.
And Paul Hardcastle’s “19” …

The next ten question set is on 10th November: and is about actor, Richard Burton.

Your comments will be published, tomorrow morning.

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

AI is avoided, when writing these questions.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        Why there’s no iOS or ChromeOS versions of TorBrowser?   I don’t know.   Apple make a big issue of privacy: which is one reason many use Tor.   Google are supposed to be equally as supportive of privacy … but have a reputation for tracking their users.

        Hello, Mum!

Morning, Irene: how IS the day … ?

§        It’s possibly as awesome as Stoke Poges, Debbi¹ … … … !
At any rate … ?   It’s All Saints Day.   Which mean’s we’re allowed to dress up as a girl band …

That’s OK, Olga: I know how busy things get for you … !

¹        It turns out, Debbi, that the original line up of the All Saints were on ZTT.   I was impressed: Frankie Goes to Hollywood, and the Art of Noise, were on ZTT!

I guess privacy can be a problem because some people use it for shady businesses, for example, breaking the law, so...

  3. It's strange when you don't have to Google stuff from the 60s. :)

I look forward to testing my knowledge about Richard Burton.

In fact, I believe TCM is showing "Where Eagles Dare" sometime tonight. :)

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
