Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 2-11-2025 — Road Runner

2nd November, 2025: Road Runner.

Right … it’s officially official: my nephew was over last night.

Fun was officially had, kebabs — and chicken nuggets — were eaten.

And yes … another video was made.

Feel free to hit the like button: every little helps!

Something odd happened, actually: when Jude was getting dropped off.

We had at least two Amazon vans dropping off deliveries, at the time Jude arrived.

A white one parked over the road: which I knew was an Amazon delivery, as it had the rear doors open, and a rear section filled with Amazon packages.

And a grey van, with Amazon livery, parked next door.

I was assuming one of them had packages for me: I’d ordered a few Christmas presents that Amazon told me would be delivered, yesterday.

Nope.

The deliveries have been rescheduled for today.

What happened?

Beyond what looked like an intense discussion between one of the drivers and the neighbours, or between both drivers?

I don’t know.

But … ?

I have to ask why on Earth my delivery got rescheduled for today, when it could have been on one of the vans parked here yesterday …

And … ?

Yes: you bet I emailed Jeff Bezos … !

Let’s move on.

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Mum*, Olga† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with Olga and Debbi scoring five out of five, and Mum on four.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        A marathon is due to be run on 2nd November, 2025.   In which US city: New York, Detroit or Los Angeles?

Q2)        A marathon is roughly how long, in miles: twenty-six miles, twenty-eight miles or thirty mile?

Q3)        The city’s first marathon was run in which year of the 1970s?

Q4)        The race covers all five of the city’s whats: parks, boroughs or bridges?

Q5)        Finally … ?   The Marathon is one of the seven World Marathon Majors.   Name one of the other six.
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        1st November saw a parade in Saigon, bombed.   In which year of the 1960s?
A1)        1966.

Q2)        The bombing took place during which war: the Vietnam War, the Korean War or the Second Gulf War>?
A2)        The Vietnam War.

Q3)        Saigon is now better known as which city?
A3)        Ho Chi Minh City.

Q4)        The bombing was carried out by whom: the Viet Cong, the US Airforce or the Khmer Rouge?
A4)        The Viet Cong.

Q5)        Finally … ?   The country the bombing took place in, was split into two halves.   Which two halves: north and south, upper and lower or east and west?
A5)        North and South.
Here’s a thought …
“The race is held on the first Sunday of November and attracts professional competitors and amateurs from all over the world.”
From the Wikipedia entry on the City’s marathon.
And a song …

The next ten question set is on 10th November: and is about actor, Richard Burton.

Your comments will be published, tomorrow morning.

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

AI is avoided, when writing these questions.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        Hello, Mum!   (It was 1966, Mum, not 1965!)

You say that, Olga … but I think things like TorBrowser, and VPNs are like a lot of other bits of technology: there’s legal — and or moral — uses, as well as illegal ones.   From the little I know, both allow activists in oppressive countries to get around government restrictions.
(Blank cassettes spring to mind, here.   Aunty Bella used to tape The Archers with them.   I taped songs from the radio,  rather than spend money on compilation albums!)
Oh, remember telling me about Caganers?   Today’s Sunday service on Radio 4 came from a church with a Sheela na gig.   It’s not the first thing I was expecting on a Sunday morning!

‡        I know I’ve got Jeff Wayne’s War of the Worlds lined up for the Burton quiz, Debbi.   He narrated the original version.   He got replaced by Liam Neeson on the ‘new’ version.
It’s on Spotify.   I’m not sure I’m convinced by it: it’s a touch funkier than I’d prefer.   (Gary Barlow’s not as good as Justin Hayward … !)

Yes, I am sure, but finding the right balance between the two uses (or rather, types of users) and deciding what is what is not easy. I'd love to think everybody would use it for good. Unfortunately...
    What an interesting topic though!
Oh, and about Amazon... I've long decided that you can't work out what they do applying logic. It might be that the things are coming from different places, or there might have been a big cockup. I don't remember if I told that I was expecting an item to come (one of the Amazon Vine things) long ago, and according to their website, it had left the storage place and was on its way to me, but it never arrived, and it never updated. I haven't checked for a long time, because that was months ago, but days later, according to the website, it was still on delivery... And although I did try to contact them, nobody seemed to know anything. As there was no money involved, I wasn't too worried, but I still wonder what happened...

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
