Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 7-5-2026 — Elected

7th May, 2026: Elected.

Right … it’s official.

It’s officially Election Day, here in the UK.

Which means you can start singing old songs …

Or you can go and vote: the walk will possibly do you good.

~≈🗳️≈~

As a thought?

Yes: I still take the position I have for a few years.

I’m voting Green.

But … ?

If Green candidates weren’t standing, I would be spoiling my vote.

And would urge others to do the same: should they not see a candidate they could comfortably vote for.

Bar walking past the polling station … ?

We have no other way of abstaining.

~≈🗳️≈~

As a last electoral thought?

One I’ve mentioned, before?

I could neither vote for the Conservatives, nor for Reform.

Both parties are too right-of-centre for my tastes.

But, given I know my home town?

I suspect Reform will do well.

No: I don’t like that one bit.

But have to face the possibilities, and the political realities.

~≈🗳️≈~

I found out, yesterday, that a documentary about the film, Threads, had been released.

I was interested.

But frustrated there was no apparently release date.

It turns out that — according to the distributors — there’s a new 4k blu-ray release due in July of this year.

The documentary is included in this release.

That could be worth spending money on …

Let’s move on.

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Mum* and Debbi† putting in their answers: with both scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        7th May, 2026, sees the UK go to the polls.   For what: local councils or the House of Commons?

Q2)        7th May, 2026, sees Wales go to the polls.   For what: the Senedd, the House of Commons or the House of Lords?

Q3)        7th May, 2026, sees Scotland go to the polls: for elections to the Scottish Parliament.   How many seats are being contested: 921, 129 or 219?

Q4)        Thirty-two boroughs will hold elections, today.   The thirty-two boroughs of where: London, Manchester or Exeter?

Q5)        Finally … ?   The last local elections were in which year: 2020, 2022 or 2024?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        Footballer, Cole Palmer, was born on 6th May, 2002.   He currently plays for which Premiership side?
A1)        Chelsea.

Q2)        The US Army Airforce P-47 Thunderbolt made its first flight on 6th May, 1941.   What type of plane was it: a fighter, a bomber or a reconnaissance plane?
A2)        A fighter.

Q3)        The first elections to the devolved Scottish Parliament took place on 6th May.   Of which year of the 1990s?
A3)        1999.

Q4)        The first elections to the devolved Welsh Assembly took place on 6th May.   Of which year of the 1990s?
A4)        1999.   (Why does that sound familiar … ?)

Q5)        Finally … ?   Weeb Ewbank was born on 6th May, 1907.   He played — and coached — which US sport: Baseball, American Football or log rolling?
A5)        American Football.
Here’s a thought …
“These will be the second set of local elections during the premiership of Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and will take place amid unpopularity towards the governing Labour Party …”
From the Wikipedia entry on the elections.
And an Alice Cooper tune …

The next ten question sets will be on the 17th, 26th and 31st May, and on 3rd June: they’re about Dennis Potter, Miles Davis, Trinity Sunday and Liverpool football club.

Your comments, and today’s answers, will be published in tomorrow’s Teaser.

AI is avoided when writing these questions.

Answers are as accurate as possible: at the time of writing.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        Hello, Mum!

†        I was thinking more of Heath Ledger’s Joker, Debbi: his ‘Introduce a little anarchy’ speech in The Dark Knight.
Or possibly thinking of V …

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
