Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 8-5-2026 — You Little Cola Nut!

8th May, 2026: Coca-Cola.

Yay!

We’ve got the local elections out of the way!

At least … we’ve got them out of the way for another … um … year?

With the way the local elections are structured, and the various postponements that have happened, have happened … ?

I’m not actually sure when the next ones are.

They’ll probably creep up on us, next May.

However?

All I can say is this.

Yes, I voted: and voted Green.

But yes: given how right of centre Brentwood is, I suspect Reform will do well.

Even if I felt the one Reform candidate hanging around outside the polling, yesterday, looked vaguely ridiculous.

Like a cross between the US President, a spiv, and a member of the Raving Loonies.

Only in a worse suit …

Yes: I know.

I sound insulting.

But … ?

I really don’t like Reform … !

~≈🗳️≈~

That aside … ?

Results are coming in.

And it sounds like Reform have done well, overall.

I’m only hoping my ward has gone Green: although we won’t know, until the count’s finished.

Here’s hoping.

Many years ago, I wrote a piece that said it would be difficult to get a fire engine down my street.

I still feel that would be difficult: given the amount of congestion, the amount of parked cars, on Rollason Way.

So, when I saw this article: one that tells us of a fire in Benfleet, one that fire fighters found difficult to get to because of the parked cars?

I felt … well …

Justified in my concerns, to be honest.

Congestion is not just an issue, here.

Let’s move on.

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Mum* and Debbi† putting in their answers: with Mum scoring five out of five, and Debbi on four.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        Coca Cola was introduced on 8th May: by John Stith Pemberton.   8th May of which year: 1888, 1886 or 1884?

Q2)        The drink includes a lot of carbonated … what?

Q3)        1935 saw Coca Cola being certified as what: kosher, halal or ital … ?

Q4)        Pemberton’s original recipe included a quart of what: alcohol, sulphuric acid or petrol?

Q5)        Finally … ?   Pemberton’s original recipe included what, as a colouring agent: caramel, cochineal or pomegranate rind?

Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

A1)        Local councils.

Q2)        7th May, 2026, sees Wales go to the polls.   For what: the Senedd, the House of Commons or the House of Lords?
A2)        The Senedd.

Q3)        7th May, 2026, sees Scotland go to the polls: for elections to the Scottish Parliament.   How many seats are being contested: 921, 129 or 219?

Q5)        Finally … ?   The last local elections were in which year: 2020, 2022 or 2024?
A5)        2024.   (I initially put down 2022, an answer I wrongly included in today’s video Teaser: I edited the video to correct this.)
Here’s a thought …
“In 2013, Coke products were sold in over 200 countries and territories worldwide, with consumers drinking more than 1.8 billion company beverage servings each day.”
From the Wikipedia entry on the drink.
A song …

And an earworm …

The next ten question sets will be on the 17th, 26th and 31st May, and on 3rd June: they’re about Dennis Potter, Miles Davis, Trinity Sunday and Liverpool football club.

Your comments, and today’s answers, will be published in tomorrow’s Teaser.

AI is avoided when writing these questions.

Answers are as accurate as possible: at the time of writing.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        Hello, Mum!

Sorry about yesterday’s fifth question, Debbi!   It’s the first time I’ve spliced in a video correction!
Really?   I keep digging that tune up, when there’s an election … !
