Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 1-8-2024 — Switzerland.

1st August 2024: Switzerland.

Well, well, well … it’s Thursday!

Which means … ?

I’m expecting my nephew at some point!

Hopefully?

I won’t be spending too much time in the loo!

Children were killed in Southport, on Monday.

After a seventeen-year-old went on what I can only call a rampage.

Legal proceedings against him are due to start, today.

Given the reports of riots organised by right wing extremists?

I can only hope that court session is peaceful.

Let’s move on.

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Mum*, Olga† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with Olga and Debbi scoring five out of five, and Mum on four.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

No gnomes were hurt in the writing of this quiz.

Here’s a thought …
“Unus pro omnibus, omnes pro uno”
“One for all, all for one”
Switzerland’s motto.
A national anthem …

And an earworm that’s been provoking a silly meme

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        Hello, Mum!

        Oh, so true, Olga!   #Runs #Trots … !
It sounds like you need the thunderstorms we’ve got predicted for today.   I hope we both get some: it’ll break the heat, however temporarily!   (I hope nothing’s defrosted, either!)

‡        I hope that goes well, Debbi!
Sorry about today’s set: but I think the answers are nice and short!   And at least one of the quotes is from The Third Man!

Well, most of the things in the freezer were vegetables, and my mother's meat she cooked, so that should be OK. It wasn't too bad, considering, because the problem is that the old fridge (one of those combi non-frost contraptions) has started making ice in the freezer like mad, and that means defrosting it is quite complicated even in this heat (mind you, I didn't have the door of the freezer open, as I wasn't sure if they'd come or not).
I'm again waiting for the fridge people to come (yesterday they phoned me at around this time, and I know they only deliver until 1 pm, so I hope they don't take too long), and I haven't heard from the meter reader either. My mother has gone out with her friend, as today, 'she' was the one due for a test in the same place I went with my mother yesterday. Yes, days can become much the same.
I hope we get some rain, but it doesn't look like it here. TAke care, let's hope your preparation is not too terrible, and I hope you have fun with your nephew (despite all that).

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
