Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 20-8-2017

Right …

It’s Back to Work Sunday …

Well, it’s: it’s been a back to work weekend!

Which is — or was — actually quite nice.

I don’t know about you, but it’s nice to be able to enjoy yourself at work: in the midst of a bunch of friendly co-workers.

It’s just a shame about the snotty punters, yesterday … !

~≈Ê≈~

But let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga* putting in her answers: scoring five out of five in the the process.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

“I don’t relax. I sit down and contemplate all the energetic things I should do.”
Sylvester McCoy†, born 20 August 1943.
Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Have a good day.

*        Well, if it’s any reassurance, Olga?   Angelic Business isn’t on Demonoid or Pirate Bay.   Not that I’d know how to get anywhere NEAR them.   Obviously … !   I think what saw Napster, the music sharing pirate site, collapse?   Was simply the fact iTunes, and the iTunes store, got released: which made it cheap and easy to buy music, legally.   I think Amazon’s having a similar effect for books.   Although I know Debbi’s had her doubts about how Amazon deals with authors, in her time.   (We seem to be missing an American … !)

†        He’s in The Hobbit, you know …

  1. Q1) Venezuela
    Q2) 1976
    Q3) 1989
    Q4) Detroit
Q5) Saint Stephen (he was a King. In Catalonia we celebrate a Saint Stephen on the 26th of December, that is also a holiday, but it must be a different one. Yes, definitely a different one. That one is a martyr and he was stoned to death. Difficult to keep up).
Amazon are into the business for themselves, not anybody else, for sure. If helping others brings them money that's good, but recently they've created their own publishing lines for different genres, and of course they promote their own books more than others (I think that's also true even if you pay for advertisements, but as I don't understand anything about that, in my case it would be throwing money away). I haven't been exclusive with Amazon for a very long time, and I can say my books are available (although not selling) in many places. These days, the few books I sell (apart from the free ones that I don't count) are mostly on Google Books, that seems to reach places that neither Amazon nor Apple touch. I use StreetLib and PublishDrive to distribute to places other than the usual and I even have some books in Chinese, but my monthly sales hardly reach the two figures, so I'm never going to live off it...
I hope the people on the other side of the phone behave today. Take care.

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
