Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 31-1-2018: Oh, Mr Lydon!

31st January, 2018.

I have to admit, that picture — the one with a very young John Lydon — looks a bout iffy, I know.

But, frankly?

I’m still learning how to you the web cam to make the Teaser videos.

And, at one point?

Had changed settings on Keynote, so that the various slideshows were exported as smaller movies.

A desperate effect to try and adjust over-all out put size, I should add.

Frankly?

I’d set the things to smaller for the last batch of videos.   But not realised that: and hadn’t re-set it, when I did the batch I made, yesterday.

Embarrassingly!

Just as a brief — rhetorical — question?

Entirely rhetorical, I should stress.

Do you ever get earworms?   A song playing it’s way through your head?

Frankly, and despite today’s theme?

I’ve got Gary Numan singing at me.

Oy vey … !

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga* and Debbi† putting in their answers: with both scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) 31st January saw the birth of singer John Lydon: also known as Johnny Rotten.   In which year?
Q2) He famously fronted which punk band?
Q3) What was his second band called?
Q4) Lydon’s first band released their first album in 1977.   What was it called?
Q5) Which Lydon penned song officially got to Number 2 in the charts?
Q6) Anarchy in the UK got to which number, in the UK charts?
Q7) Anarchy in the UK was the only single released by Lydon’s first band’s first label: which label?
Q8) 2004 saw viewers complain about Lydon’s language: on which TV show?
Q9) Famously, Lydon advertised which brand of butter?
Q10) Finally … Lydon is the step-father of the late Ari Up.   Which band was Ari a member of?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1) 30th January is the feast day of Saint Aldegonde.   She’s the patron saint of sufferers of what: leprosy, breast cancer or postnatal depression?
Q2) 30th January, 1937, saw the birth of Boris Spassky.   What game is he famous for playing?
A2) Chess.
Q3) Actor, Christian Bale, was born on 30th January, 1974.   He famously lost his temper at a director of photography: during the making of which film?
Q4) 30th January, 58BC, saw the birth of Livia Drusilla.   Which Roman Emperor was she married to?
A4) Augustus.
Q5) 30th January, 516 BC, saw construction of what, finished: the Great Pyramid of Giza, Stonehenge or the Second Temple in Jerusalem?
A5) The Second Temple.
Here’s a thought or two …
“My favourite album by her is The Dreaming, and I think she produced that one herself. That got a lot of criticism — but I loved it. It was overloaded with textures, and tones and all manner of things. It’s a record that I still can play to this day, and still hear new things.”
John Lydon, speaking about Kate Bush in  2014.
“If the Royal Family was going to assassinate someone, they would have gotten rid of me a long time ago.”
John Lydon, speaking in 2003 about conspiracy theories about the death of Diana.
And a couple of tunes …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Have a good day.

*        I don’t think that’s it, though, Olga.   I usually have a snooze in the afternoon — I picked up siestas from various family holidays in Spain — and think I started the question … and didn’t finish the blessed thing!   What CAN I tell you?   Apart from look out for begging episodes of American Horror Show, the Jessica Lange ones have all got heroin habits …

†        I keep thinking I should do the same, Debbi: like I say, I get the impression they’re very different.   Oh … there’s a 2017 on-demand movie doing the rounds: both Roger Moore and Ian Ogilvy make an appearance.   (Oh, I managed to catch Star Trek last night.   It’s heading for a big finish!)

I often think I've written something that was only in my head (although sometimes the opposite is true, as I can type quickly and have no idea what I've written either).
I do get earworms, but mostly for truly terrible songs. (Sorry, as you have mentioned Star Trek... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gi3Xt3Yjk14)

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
