Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 7th July, 2018.

7th July, 2018.

Yep: I’m officially back at work, today: and frankly?

I’d rather be back in bed.

Isn’t that always the way … ?

At any rate?   I’m sorely tempted to take a good book into work.   I’ve been reading LeGuin’s The Other Wind, just recently.

And, as with some of her earlier work?

Her prose is both hypnotic, and beautiful … !

Do you watch the news, at all?   Or follow football?

I’m not a fan, I should add, here.

So I couldn’t help but notice this piece: telling how one pair of actors got seriously annoyed at one pair in the audience.

Who — on Tuesday just gone — watch the England-Columbia penalty shoot-out, on their phones …

Whilst they were in the front row, supposedly watching the musical … !

I’m with the actors, there.

The pair were fucking incredibly rude!

You’ve bought theatre tickets, right?

You even make a point of going to the theatre, to watch the play.

It’s show a lot of fuc brainlessness to ignore the actors — the people you’ve paid to entertain you —in favour of the match.

AND distract them from doing their job, and spoil everyone else’s fun in to the bargain.

You can tell I’m angry, can’t you?

I doubt the woman concerned are watching this.

But if they are?

Enjoy the game, this afternoon.

Watch it down the pub.

Just don’t watch it on your phones if you’re supposed to be watching something else!

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga* and Debbi† putting in their answers: with both scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) The youngest player to win the Men Single’s title at Wimbledon, did so on 7th Jul, 1985.   Who was he?
Q2) Islamic law was instituted in Iran: on 7th July, 1980.   What is the term for Islamic Law?
Q3) Chief Moshood Abiola died on 7th July, 1998.   He Was a promiinent opposition leader in which African nation?
Q4) 7th July, 1956, saw the birth of which UK talk show host?
Q5) Finally … which island group became independent of The UK: on 7th July, 1978?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1) Richard 3rd was crowned as King of England: on 6th July, of which year?
A1) 1483.
Q2) He was the last king from the House of York.   His successor as king was from which house?
A2) The House of Tudor.
Q3) Richard was also the Duke of which G?
Q4) Supposedly, Richard killed the Princes in the … where?
A4) Tower.
Q5) Finally … who plays Richard in the first series of Blackadder?

Here’s a thought …
“I don’t collect any memorabilia. I wish I’d have kept everything I had. But who knew you had to keep it. Just gave it away. And we lost so much and we didn’t look after a lot of it. I believe Paul’s got everything he ever had, but I lost a lot of mine.”
Ringo Starr, born 7th July, 1940.
And a song …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Have a good day.

*        THINK I had an OK one, Olga: Ursula LeGuin’s getting some exercise!   How was yours … ?

†        Gotcha: cheers for that, Debbi!   As for copyright … ?   As for Fair Use … ?   The UK’s got it’s own equivalent, called Fair Dealing: and believe the EU’s previous Copyright Directive had Fair Use exceptions.   Getting the hang of that, though … It’s … complicated, isn’t it … ?

Mine wasn't too bad either. Manager to get a couple of lamps I needed at a good price. I hope your day at work is light and you enjoy the reading (and have time for it!)...

  2. It is pretty complex. In the US, there are four factors that have to be considered in combination. It's a balancing act of sorts.

    1. Boris Becker
    2. Sharia
    3. Nigeria
    4. Jeremy Kyle (in 1965)
    5. the Solomon Islands

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
