Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 12-9-2018: How To Do Art In Caves …

12th Sept, 2018.

I have to admit to hearing some sad news: last night, actually, although it’s been repeated, this morning.

I have to admit, I was never a huge fan.

But Carry On Screaming?   Wouldn’t have worked without her.

Frankly?

Neither would The Prisoner.

Her announcements over the Village loudspeakers?

Were part of what made the setting so atmospheric.

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga* and Debbi† putting in their answers: with both scoring six out of six.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) 12th September saw the discovery of cave paintings, at Lascaux: near the village of Montignac.   Cave, paintings and village, are in which country?
Q2) The paintings were found in which year?
Q3) The Hall of the Bulls gallery of the cave features bulls from which extinct species: tyrannosaurs, aurochs or mastodons?
Q4) Ochroconis lascauxensis has been discovered in, and named after, the cave.   It’s a what: fungus, algae or lichen?
Q5) Finally … the Cave was added to the UN’s World Heritage Site list.   In which year?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1) 11th September is Emergency Number Day in the US.   What IS the US emergency number?
A1) 911.
Q2) Which icy continent also uses that number?
A2) Antartica.
Q3) 11th September also marks the death of Muhammad Ali Jinnah: the first president of where?
A3) Pakistan.
Q4) Which Spanish region marks it’s National Day — or Diada Nacional — on 11th September?
A4) Catalonia.
Q5) 11th September, 1978, saw the death of dissident, Georgi Markov: stabbed with a weaponised umbrella by a secret agent from his own country.   Which country was that?
A5) Bulgaria.
Q6) Finally … 11th September is feast day of Saint Deniol.   He was the first bishop of which Welsh town: Bangor, Brecon or Llandaff?
A6) Bangor.
Here’s a thought …
“We are the first civilization that has a past that has become immense. In 1940 no one knew the caves of Lascaux and Chauvet. Last July researchers discovered a skull seven hundred million years old. The depth of time has replaced the gods.”
Pascal Quignard.
And a video …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Have a good day.

*        I hope the holiday went well, Olga!

†        It was interesting to read, Debbi, I know that.   Especially — as it turned out — Jodie improvised a prop bomb: so she’d have something to dismantle at the audition.   Worked for Chris Chibnall!

Thanks, Paul. We went out in the morning for a wander. There was a good atmosphere and lots of people although we avoided the big crowds.
Sorry to hear about the actress. I cannot recall seeing her on anything and I've only ever watched the Prisoner dubbed into Spanish, but I should watch it again.
    Take care.

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
