Remembering them is … occasionally trick: unless they’re striking.
I had one, over night: dreaming I lived in the top of a block of flats … and was looking out of the window, at an especially large fire that had broken out, many storeys below.
Feeling relatively neutral about what I was watching: as it wasn’t affecting me directly.
What prompted that?
I’m blowed if I know!
It’s one of pyschology’s little mysteries, I think!

The other thing I’m thinking about … ?
Is Christmas.
I’ve actually got enough money coming in, to get a group pressie for my family.
I’m not sure what, though.
A lot will come down to price, practicality … and what seems fitting.
But what I’m thinking … ?
Is getting them either a laptop or media streaming box.
Something that can be hooked up to the main TV, and used to watch the various catch up services: and access things like Netflix, and Amazon Prime.
Something like a Firestick, Google Chromecast, or Roku box?
Or maybe an Android media streamer?
Would let them does this.
Something like a laptop?
Would be a touch more expensive, be able to access the same sort of apps: mostly.
But ALSO be able to access various other bits of software.
Decisions, decisions, eh?

Let’s move on, shall we?
Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga*, Badwolf†, and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with all three scoring five out of five.
Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?
Q3)The Area, itself, is owned by the US what: Airforce, Army or Navy?
Q4)At the time of writing, how many people are interested in going to the event: two million people, one and a half million people or one million people^?
Q5)Finally? Many believe the area houses what: aliens, sharks or vegetables?
Q5)Finally … ? The Orions in Star Trek, the Starjammers, in the X-Men comics, and Balck Barney, from Buck Rogers in the 25th Century, are all what kind of pirate?
* Funny old thing, Olga, Stephen Fry was on the Today programme, this morning: talking about his favourite football team. Justin Webb wasn’t asking about the important stuff, I know that!
† Cheers, Anne! I couldn’t resist that Arrr routine! And go for it: anything that improves it, is a a good thing. (You should be able to sell the old RAM/Hard drive to you local CeX: and make some money back.)
‡ Oh, I double checked, Debbi: turns out he went to Harvard … the the London School of Economics. You can see the Yes Minister gags from here …
^ I should add, the original event has been reorganised: and is now a pub meet. These questions were written about a week or two ago: before storming the place we’re talking about was cancelled for health and safety reasons.
Q1) Area 51 Q2) Facebook Q3) Airforce Q4) One and a half (over two million going, in theory…) Q5) Aliens. I can’t imagine that many people would want to go if it was vegetables, although sharks are pretty popular. ;) Good to know they are not going ahead with it, even if it was always meant as a joke. I remember working at a mental hospital that was very close to an airport. Tony Blair was visiting the area and landing there. They set up all kinds of controls, etc., and people going in an out had their cars searched (I was living in an apartment on site, so I didn’t have to leave the hospital and didn’t see any of that first-hand, but I heard it from the other doctors and the nurses) and they warned us not to allow our patients to go on leave (even for a walk on the grounds), as we were told if somebody started running towards the area they would “shoot first and ask questions later”. This might not have been verbatim (I wasn’t present during the conversation, but that is what management told us, and considering we had mental health patients, some of them quite paranoid and suspicious, it wasn’t really a risk worth taking). And that was in the UK, so I have no idea what the military in the US might do. Not sure they have a great sense of humour either… Oh, as for the present... It must be difficult to decide. It's probably down to what you can afford and what they are more likely to use. I gave my mother a laptop and although I tried to teach her how to use it, she never got the hang of it and has never used it, but you probably know what your family will enjoy...
I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?
I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.
Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.
Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.
Thank you.
* I know many value their online privacy. I respect that. But hope you respect my wish to see who’s commenting on my blog: and my wish for you to introduce your self to me, and to your fellow commentors.
† Your Facebook, X/Twitter, Blogger, Instagram, TikTok or LinkedIn profile are acceptable. I also like seeing folks webpages.
