Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 13th November, 2019.

13th November, 2019.

Right …

Remember me saying that my boiler was due to be repaired, yesterday?

HA!

I got a phone call, yesterday morning: from the contractors.

Apparently, the engineer had gone through the notes: and decided the job would take too long for the available time.

So it’s been rebooked … for Friday afternoon.

Ho … hum … !

~≈†≈~

JUST as a thought … ?

The earworm of the morning is the Associates album tune, Arrogance Give Him Up, from the Sulk LP.

Why I’ve got the bloody thing flapping around my head … ?

I honestly couldn’t tell you!

~≈†≈~

As a final thought … ?

Going by the figures I’ve got access to, I’ve earned another fiver on Youtube.

They still won’t pay me, yet, but it’s nice to see!

~≈†≈~

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga*, and Debbi† putting in their answers: with all three scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) 13th November, AD354, saw the birth of Augustine of Hippo.   Hippo, the town he died in, is in what’a now which North African country?
Q2) 13th August, 1896, saw the eruption of Mount Tongariro.   Mount Tongariro is in which country?
Q3) 13th November, 2015, saw a series of co-ordinated terror attacks: in Paris.   Which Parisian rock venue was attacked, during the raid … ?
Q4) 13th November, 1929, saw the birth of Fred Phelps: the notorious founder of which hate-based church?   (Normally, I wouldn’t mention them: but I was rushed for questions …)
Q5) Finally … ?   13th November, 1922, saw the birth of actor, Oskar Werner.   In which film did he play Guy Montag?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1) 12th November, 1954, saw Ellis Island cease operations.   As a what?
Q2) 12th November, 1980, saw Voyager One send photos of Saturn back to Earth.   The astronomical symbol for Saturn (♄) is supposed to represent what: a pitchfork, sickle or hoe?
A2) A sickle.
Q3) Emperor Akihito was enthroned: on 12th November, 1990.   In which year did he abdicate?
A3) 2019.
Q4) 12th November, 1923, saw the birth of British archeologist, Ian Graham.   He is famous for studying which south American civilisation: the Toltec, Inca or Maya?
A4) The Maya.
Q5) Booker T Jones was born on 12th November, 1944.   His band, Booker T and the MGs, were the house band for which record company: Stax, Atlantic or Motown?
A5) Stax.
Here’s a thought …
“I divide critics into two kinds. Some can understand me, and the others do not even come close. I am not interested in what eunuchs know about sex.”
Oskar Werner, 13 November 1922 – 23 October 1984.
And a song …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Have a good day.

*        Your right, Olga!   Saying that … ?   Well, it’s hurry up and wait for Friday.   As for the weather?   We had miserable, yesterday evening, but sunny, this morning … Oh, and jokes from weathermen, yesterday, about the Beast from the East.   Any signs of an El Ministerio release date?   Granted, I’ve one more Edge of Darkness episode to catch, but even so!

†        I’m with you there, Debbi!   I notice the wine tun is STILL a multiple of nine!   Oh, it looks like Star Trek: Picard is due to drop on 23rd January, 2020.   But there’s no date, yet, for season three of Star Trek: Discovery.   Which is frustrating!   (I’m betting there’s going to be different release dates for the UK and US, though!)

  1. Q1) Algeria
    Q2) New Zealand
    Q3) The Bataclan Theatre
    Q4) Westboro Baptist Church
Q5) Farenheit 451 (I haven’t watched this in a long time but I still seem to have a very clear memory of it. Well, burning books would never have sat well with me, even when I was a child).
Oh, checking about el Ministerio, RTVE confirms they have started filming, all of them will appear in it (even those who left are back), and although there is no date mentioned, it does talk about the “universo transmedia” (transmedia universe) with a link where you can check other content, and they mention a prequel, a web series for Angustias, a Watsapp group, the opportunity for somebody to become an agent, and for fans of the series to design products… Not sure how much of that you will be able to access, but here is the article…

They do mention an episode about young Philip II and also one about Madrid in the 1980s (la movida Madrileña, made famous by Almodovar’s early movies).
Oh, and well done with You Tube and good luck for Friday...

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
