12th November, 2019.
Yes: it’s official.
My boiler is due to be fixed, today.
The chap’s due, this afternoon.
I have to admit, I had a phone call, yesterday: asking if he could come earlier.
I’ve said I’d seriously prefer this afternoon …
Here’s hoping …
JUST as a revision?
The boiler contractors have phoned, today.
Apparently, the engineer won’t be able to do the job, today … as he won’t have enough time …
Ho …
Bloody …
Hum … !

I’ve JUST had a call from the boiler contractors.
Their engineer WON’T be turning up, today: as he won’t have enough time to do the job … !
Ever had the feeling you’ve been cheated … ?

Right …
Disney’s streaming service, Disney+, launches, today: in parts of the world.
I don’t, personally, have the cash for it.
But I’m willing to bet the different launch dates are going to encourage a lot of piracy.
Especially given that it owns quite a few major franchises.
Personally?
I’m just wondering if The Mandalorian is suitable for an eight years old …

Let’s move on.
Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga*, and Debbi† putting in their answers: with both scoring five out of five.
Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?
Q1) 12th November, 1954, saw Ellis Island cease operations. As a what?
Q2) 12th November, 1980, saw Voyager One send photos of Saturn back to Earth. The astronomical symbol for Saturn (♄) is supposed to represent what: a pitchfork, sickle or hoe? ()
Q3) Emperor Akihito was enthroned: on 12th November, 1990. In which year did he abdicate?
Q4) 12th November, 1923, saw the birth of British archeologist, Ian Graham. He is famous for studying which south American civilisation: the Toltec, Inca or Maya?
Q5) Booker T Jones was born on 12th November, 1944. His band, Booker T and the MGs, were the house band for which record company: Stax, Atlantic or Motown?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …
Q1) 11th November is Armistice Day: marking the end of the First World War. The original commemoration, in 1919, was where: Buckingham Palace, Lambeth Palace or Winchester Palace?
Q2) This was the first Armistice Day to include what: a wreath laying service at the Cenotaph, a two minute silence or a fly past by the Red Arrows?
Q3) Armistice de la Première Guerre mondiale is the name given to the day, where: Germany, France or Italy?A3) France.
Q4) Armistice Day isn’t formally marked in Germany. The German equivalent is held two Sundays before the first day of Advent: and called what … ?A4) Volkstrauertag.
Q5) Finally … ? The Armistice Day commemorations in 2018 saw sixty world leaders gather at which French monument?A5) The Arc de Triomphe.
Here’s a thought …
“I was extremely fortunate to live around the corner from a recording studio and to be chosen to have a paper route to make enough money to pay for the music lessons.”Booker T Jones, born 12th November, 1944.
And a song …
Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.
Have a good day.
* What can I tell you, Olga? Except it strikes me Hollywood’s a mystery, some times: it literally IS ‘a bag of hurt,’ if you’ll excuse the Steve Jobs quote. (He was talking about blu-rays, there: and blamed tech-licensing issues for the various blu ray release and blu-ray drives NOT being on the Mac. I suspect that’s actually because the company would rather folk bought movies from iTunes … )
† Cheers, Debbi! They weight a ton, I know that … Sorry! At ANY rate: the Oxford English Dictionary’s definite, and says a tun’s equal to four hogsheads. 216 gallons of beer … or 252 gallons of wine …

Oh, Paul. Haven't you learned yet that you never say no when a workman or engineer of any sort offers to come early? Unless you really have an emergency you can't get out of, it's best not to upset them. We're supposed to be the clients (well, or your landlord here as well) but they're always in charge. I hope it doesn't take forever to get sorted. Here it's become quite cold all of a sudden (well, relatively speaking, but until a few days ago you could wear short sleeves and no jacket...)
No problemo. :) I learn something new here all the time.
