Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 11th July, 2020

11th July, 2020.

Yes: it’s officially the case.

It’s not Saturday night, and I’m not — thankfully — Whigfield.

I don’t think I’d look that good with a towel wrapped around my head!

Either way … ?

I’ve just seen the video for the Sparks most recent song, Existential Threat.

You have to give the Mael brothers credit.

They’ve knocked out an interesting tune: and made a good decision, hiring the incredibly strange Cyriak* to animate the video.

That’s a hell of a decision!

Oh, just in case you’ve been following the digital poverty stuff?

I’ve finished the piece on the subject: that I’m hoping to get published on PhoenixFM.

All I need to do know, is a little bit of tidying up, and I’m done.

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with both scoring ten out of ten.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) 11th July, 2010, was the final of the 2010 World Cup.   Who won?
Q2) 11th July, 1990, saw the birth of sportswoman, Caroline Wozniacki.   What does she play?
Q3) 11th July, 1576, saw explorer, Martin Frobisher, spot the world’s largest island.   What do we now call that island?
Q4) Which London railway station was opened on 11th July, 1848?
Q5) Finally … ?   Labour MP, Terry Fields, was gaoled: on 11th July, 1991.   For the non payment of what?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

A1) 1856.
Q2) In what was then, what: the Austrian Empire, the Austro-Hungarian Empire or Hungary?
A2) The Austrian Empire.   (It only became Austro-Hungarian Empire in 1867.)
Q3) Smiljan, the village he was born in, is now where: Serbia, Croatia or Macedonia?

Q4) Famously, he preferred which form of electricity: alternating current or direct current?
Q5) Before starting his own company, Tesla worked for the Edison Machine Works.   In which US city?

Q10) Finally … ?   Elon Musk’s Tesla Inc, make electric … what?
A10) Electric cars.
Here’s a thought …
“I feel like everything is possible.”
Caroline Wozniacki, born 11th July, 1990.
And a song …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Have a good day.

*        Cyriak’s work is worth checking out.   Just don’t expect normality.   Or rationality.   Or … you know … stuff … !

†        I have to admit, the odd nap helps, Olga: at least, it works for me.   And congratulations on the phone call!   Getting one of those is something!
And, yes: O2’s builder’s has finally … added some more scaffolding!   Either way, it’s nice to know someone else has had a potential interview!

‡        :D   At any rate, Debbi, did I mention I’ve been watching a few Fourth Doctor stories, while I’ve been writing the Teasers?   K-9 always seems to sneak around very quietly …

Well done on the article! I always (well, time permitting) try to leave any piece of writing alone for a bit of time before I correct and edit (the longer the piece, the longer the time, if possible) because otherwise, it's easy to read what we think we have written rather than what is on the page. Although they are likely to check it out themselves as well.
And good there's some movement on the mast front. I'll keep you posted on the interview front, although there's some time to go yet. Things might pick up after the holiday, but this year everything is up in the air, so let's see.
I have to cover an item for the radio. Els Castellers de Sants always celebrate summer with some event or other, but this year it will have to be a bit different (no castells, unfortunately)

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.

*   I know many value their online privacy. I respect that. But hope you respect my wish to see who’s commenting on my blog: and my wish for you to introduce your self to me, and to your fellow commentors.
