Q1)4th July is US Independence Day. Marking the day the Declaration of Independence was approved by whom: Congress, the President or the Supreme Court of the United States?
Q2)The Declaration was drafted by a Committee of Five. Name any one of the members of the committee.
Q3)The Declaration was on 4th July of which year?
Q4)My Country, ’Tis of Thee was written in 1831. It was written for Independence Day celebrations ins which US city: Boston, Alabama, Boston, Massachusetts or Boston, Texas?
Q5)Finally … ? The USA’s oldest Independence Day celebration takes place in a town called Bristol. Bristol in which US State?
Q5)Finally … ? What’s the French name for Québec City?
A5)Ville de Québec. (The city’s name in both French and English, is Québec: with the accent over the first E. This is to distinguish it from the formal English name of the province: Quebec, which is spelt without the accent.)
Here’s a thought …
“Independence Day is the national day of the United States.”
* The thermostat went swimmingly, Olga. The two phone calls to O2, on the other hand … ? I was seriously biting my tongue. Angry doesn’t even start.
But at least the weather, here, has calmed down … a bit. I think we’re due more rain, though: it’s got THAT type of feel. Plus, we also have clouds. I just hope the drains in your building can be cleared quickly. (From what I can recall from my time in the call centre? If the main stack pipe get’s blocked, it can cause al sorts of issues.)
And, yes, I saw it, Olga! I don’t know who’d be more impressed, me or Jude! :D
† Mandarin, Trevor? Vancouver must have one hell of a China town. (Apparently? The City’s Québec, the province is Quebec: it says here … )
Q1) The Continental Congress Q2) Benjamin Franklin (if you’ve never read his autobiography, I recommend it. It’s a joy and a deserved classic. What a character!) Oh, and I’ve actually seen the Declaration of Independence in Washington DC. It was free at the time (most museums are in Washington DC, or at least were when I visited quite a few years back) and they seemed very pleased that somebody who wasn’t from there wanted to visit the document. Q3) 1776 Q4) Boston, Massachusetts Q5) Rhode Island I see what you mean about the call, and I'm happy the thermostat situation is sorted. As for the drains... What they were doing is finished, but it didn't solve the original problem (we have a bar downstairs and it seems they have a leak but they haven't been able to locate where it is coming from, and they thought it was from that drain, but not. Now we are wondering if it might be from another drain in our patio, so, I guess we don't know when we'll see the end of it. I quite like the headphones so far and, in the world of gaming headphones it was quite reasonable (much cheaper than standard professional ones I was looking at as well). It seems that older models had the light on all the time, but now you can turn it on or off (the one on the microphone stays on if the microphone is on, but you can turn it off if you're only listening to something) This is the actual link on Amazon Spain https://www.amazon.es/gp/product/B07KYDM7CP/
Well, I easily caught your first trick question. :) Now, I can't stop laughing.
1. Trick question! Your choices didn't exist until the U.S. Constitution went into effect in 1789, I assume. Anyway, it was the Second Continental Congress, as I'm sure you know from looking it up online. I guess. Unless you didn't know. I'll stop. Full stop. LOL 2. Thomas Jefferson (Is it okay for me to admit he was one of them? He wasn't perfect, but still ... nice monument ... I guess ... I'll stop. Again.) (How many dumb political statements can I make here?) (I hate Ronald McDonald Crump. You know, right? Big Stupid Fake-Tan Faced Guy. You know who I mean.) 3. 1776 4. Boston 5. Rhode Island
And, in conclusion, hello to everyone from Maryland, USA, North America, Earth, the Solar System, the Milky Way, and the Universe!
This has been a useful way to keep my crap fingers limber. And keeping my search skills reasonably honed. :) Thank you!
I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?
I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.
Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.
Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.
Thank you.
* I know many value their online privacy. I respect that. But hope you respect my wish to see who’s commenting on my blog: and my wish for you to introduce your self to me, and to your fellow commentors.
