Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 27-3-2021: That First Test Match

27th March, 2021.

Yes: it’s looking like a quiet Saturday: with the possible exception of some shopping.

While it’s not raining … !

~≈🌧≈~

JUST as a thought … ?

You’re possibly aware I’ve been fortunate enough to be able to get hold of Jon Pertwee’s second season as Dr Who.

And I’m ripping it as we speak.

Just so you know?

In both those screens shots?   The smaller of the two pictures is my original DVD rip: the larger, the blu-ray rip.

With the blu-ray rip being only one hundred and sixty or so megabytes bigger: for the same sort of picture quality.

On top of that?   There’s at least one extra ‘Behind The Sofa’ extra, per series.

As well as a whole extra disc full of extra features.

I’m happy with that.

~≈📀≈~

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga*, Mum†, and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with Olga scoring five out of five, Debbi on four, and Mum on two.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1)        The world’s first international Rugby match took place: on 27th March, 1871.   Between England and whom?

Q2)        Was that game what we now call Rugby league or Rugby union?

Q3)        The game was played in which city: Edinburgh, Cardiff, London or Belfast?

Q4)        Accordion to Wikipedia’s entry on the game, each side had how many players: 15, 20 or 25?

Q5)        Finally … ?   Which side won?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        Larry Page was born on 26th March, 1973.   The PageRank algorithm he created is used to organise search results on a search engine he co-founded.   Which search engine?
A1)        Google.

Q2)        The UK’s Driving Test was introduced: on 26th March of 1934.   What’s the minimum age that you can take a car driving test in the UK: 15, 17 or 19?
A2)        17: although it’s 16 if you’re on certain benefits, or applying for a moped licence.

Q3)        Switzerland’s national airline was founded on 26th March, 1931.   It went bankrupt, when: 2001, 2002 or 2003?
A3)        2002.

Q4)        A ban on smoking went into effect in one country of the UK: on 26th March, 2006.   Which country?
A4)        Scotland.

Q5)        Finally … ?   Nancy Pelosi was born on 26th March, 1940.   She’s the current Speaker of where: the House of Commons, House of Representatives or the Senate?
A5)        The House of Representatives.
Here’s a thought …
“The weather was fine, and there was a very large turnout of spectators.”
From the Glasgow Herald’s report on the match: published on 28/3/1871
And a song …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Feel free to share today’s video Teaser.

Have a good day.

*        I intend to, Olga.   It’s a five day on, two days off, set of exercises: I have to do three sets of four different exercise, repeating each one, eight times.   Frankly, I’m grateful they’re ones that are easy to do!   The most I need is a chair: and something to hold, so I can keep my arms straight.
It’s the oddest use for a book, I know that!

†        Hello, Mum!

‡        That it is, Debbi!   This blu-ray’s got some interesting looking extra features.

Was unable to enter Yesterday as I was preparing Lunch for some one I had not seen faced to face for over 15 months. We had a 3 course Lunch and then exchanged Christmas presents. Penny was overwhelmed by the Book which had full colour pictures of all the Art works in the Vatican. She reckons that it will take her over 18 months to fully study in close detail all the pictures in the Book.

Also slight problem with the Smart Phone. I did not know that there are different sizes of SIMs. EE sent a standard SIM and my phone takes Nano SIMs. It is not easy to navigate the EE online site and I think the shop in the Bay-tree Centre is closed so I will have to phone them and try and order a replacement SIM.

It sounds good. I'm sure you know, but a big book on the head seemed to be used to ensure women kept a straight back when walking!

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
